How many of Kevin de Bruyne are there on the pitch? Just one?! He seems to be everywhere at the moment!

The amount of work he gets through is just outstanding. What an example he is for young players to watch how a midfielder plays the game.

TAA has blown his chances of an England recall this evening. Shocking defensively.

    Banger, Newbury

I was just about to come to the defence of TAA then... Saved me a few extra lines of text ...

The Armchair Football Fan: Think we have bad refs in the Prem? That's a criminal decision to give a foul against Bellingham and not even letting him tap it in so VAR can look. Atrocious.

Thomas Knights: Whatever happens tonight, the talking point should not be how good City are, or VAR, it should be the appalling standard of refereeing in the premier club football competition in the World. This referee is simply not good enough to referee a Sunday League game.

Matt Andrews: Referee having a stinker in the city game. Bellingham so unlucky there. Ederson got away with one.

Riyad Mahrez swings the ball into the box as Manchester City look to add a second before the break but Borussia Dortmund defend well.

Another poor bit of defending, this time by Ozan Kabak, lets Marco Asensio in but he shoots wide.

  9. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 20:43 British Summer Time 6 April 2021

    Real Madrid 2-0 Liverpool

One of the biggest talking points in the Liverpool team was Naby Keita being picked over Thiago...

That's lasted 42 minutes and Thiago comes on for Keita.

  11. Postpublished at 20:41 British Summer Time 6 April 2021

    Man City 1-0 Borussia Dortmund

Phil Foden is through on goal but his shot is kept out at the near post.

Wouldn't have counted anyway with the flag up for offside.

    Real Madrid 2-0 Liverpool

Marco Asensio has now scored in four straight matches for Real Madrid in all competitions, managing as many goals over this period (four) as he did across his previous 41 matches.

One thing you can never accuse Trent Alexander-Arnold of is lacking confidence. He takes on and just succeeds with a risky crossfield pass to Andy Robertson moments after losing a duel with Ferland Mendy.

  15. DISALLOWED GOALpublished at 20:39 British Summer Time 6 April 2021

    Man City 1-0 Borussia Dortmund

Oooh, a let off for Manchester City as Ederson comes charging out of his area to get to a ball over the top. He beats Jude Bellingham to it but his first touch is poor and Bellingham stabs it forward before rolling home but the referee rules it out for a foul on Ederson and Bellingham is booked.

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at Etihad Stadium

Good decision on the penalty. Can't understand how or why Rodri ended up clutching his face there.

It was, however, another sign that Manchester City are currently dominating this game.

Borussia Dortmund just can't get Erling Haaland into this game.

  17. YELLOW CARDpublished at 20:39 British Summer Time 6 April 2021

    Real Madrid 2-0 Liverpool

Liverpool complained about that goal becase Lucas Vazquez nudged over Sadio Mane at the other end at the start of that move. VAR obviously wasn't fussed.

Mane eventually gets booked for his protests.

Mark: Rodri was pathetic there. Complete simulation. The VAR process spot on.

Andrew Mitchell: Why hasn’t Rodri been booked there? He’s gone down holding his face, and there was clearly no impact to the head area. Blatant simulation. And unless Can was booked for dissent, why wasn’t his card rescinded?

Paul Garnett: Rodri complaining after going down clutching his face when he wasn't touched anywhere near his face is frankly embarrassing.

  19. goal

GOAL - Real Madrid 2-0 Liverpoolpublished at 20:36 British Summer Time 6 April 2021

    Marco Asensio (36 mins)

    Oh no.

Toni Kroos sprays another long ball forward and Trent Alexander-Arnold tries to clear with a diving header... but heads it into the path of Marco Asensio.

Asensio clips the ball over Alisson with his first touch and taps into the empty net.

    Real are in control.

The referee didn't make that decision very clear. Normally, you get the rectangle sign to say I've had a look, arms across the body to say 'I'm changing my decision' but there was nothing at all. Although he got the right decision in the end, though.
