One thing you can never accuse Trent Alexander-Arnold of is lacking confidence. He takes on and just succeeds with a risky crossfield pass to Andy Robertson moments after losing a duel with Ferland Mendy.

Oooh, a let off for Manchester City as Ederson comes charging out of his area to get to a ball over the top. He beats Jude Bellingham to it but his first touch is poor and Bellingham stabs it forward before rolling home but the referee rules it out for a foul on Ederson and Bellingham is booked.

Good decision on the penalty. Can't understand how or why Rodri ended up clutching his face there.

It was, however, another sign that Manchester City are currently dominating this game.

Borussia Dortmund just can't get Erling Haaland into this game.

Liverpool complained about that goal becase Lucas Vazquez nudged over Sadio Mane at the other end at the start of that move. VAR obviously wasn't fussed.

Mane eventually gets booked for his protests.

Mark: Rodri was pathetic there. Complete simulation. The VAR process spot on.

Andrew Mitchell: Why hasn’t Rodri been booked there? He’s gone down holding his face, and there was clearly no impact to the head area. Blatant simulation. And unless Can was booked for dissent, why wasn’t his card rescinded?

Paul Garnett: Rodri complaining after going down clutching his face when he wasn't touched anywhere near his face is frankly embarrassing.

The referee didn't make that decision very clear. Normally, you get the rectangle sign to say I've had a look, arms across the body to say 'I'm changing my decision' but there was nothing at all. Although he got the right decision in the end, though.
