Former Man City defender Nedum Onuoha on BBC Radio 5 Live: "I was at Wembley in 1999 watching that Division Two play-off final. And now I'm watching the team which I support literally control the Champions League semi-final against a side who was in the final the year before. It's still very surreal to be honest."

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola:"It is for all of us and the club. I'm incredibly proud and my first thoughts are with the players who didn't play today. They all deserved to play, everyone has made a contribution and now it is time to enjoy it. We have to win the league and we have two or three weeks to prepare for the final."

I would rather play Real Madrid because English ties in the Champions League are good but aren't as good as when it's country v country. I think City will face Chelsea because overall they will be too tough a team to break down Chelsea over and over.

PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino, quoted on the Champions League website: "We played the game we planned to play. We started really well, creating chances and dominating Manchester City. That's not easy. Not many teams can dominate a team like Manchester City.

"Sometimes in football you need a percentage of luck in some periods of the game. In the end, they were clinical. They scored from a situation where we were pressing high, with a long ball.

"I need to congratulate Manchester City because they are having a fantastic season. After six or seven seasons of working, Pep is doing well. At the same time, we feel proud of our players and our team."

On Kylian Mbappe's absence: "That cannot be an excuse. We are a team. Of course, it's unlucky he was not ready to help the team, but that's not an excuse. We cannot use that excuse because the performance from the team was good."

Former Manchester City defender Joleon Lescott on BT Sport: "There wasn't anyone who didn't step up to the challenge - they all knew what it meant to the team.

"To see where they've come from to now go into this competition as favourites, it's special and all the fans feel the same way. It's been great to watch but it's been a long time coming and a lot of hard work.

City were literally throwing their bodies on the line. Everyone was doing it saying we will not be broken. That's a really exciting team and moment to be a part of and all that stuff matters. You're all in it together and I love seeing all that stuff as much as I love seeing a goal. Everyone was defending. It was one of the most complete performances I've seen this season and hopefully they have another one in the final.

The difference tonight was the individual personalities of City wanting to help each other out and being very much a team tonight. Pep demands that you play for each other and it showed tonight.

You have to give special mention to Fernandinho. It's his 36th birthday today and the way he played in that game he was outrageous. Di Maria doesn't get sent off if it's anyone else tackling in that moment. He knows how to prod and prod and he leaves the game without having a yellow card. That's the kind of player that everyone wants to play with but he doesn't get enough credit from the outside.

Man City defender Kyle Walker, speaking to BT Sport: "A boy form Sheffield, it is what you dream about. To make it come true, I am buzzing.

"Against top quality players you need to put in a shift. John, Ruben, Alex made big blocks. We managed it well considering the talent they have. It is a team game. We all celebrate a goal. For us as defenders it is keeping clean sheets. We have done tremendously well with that this season. Blocking a shot is like scoring a goal for me.

"It is about playing to what we play. In big occasions there are going to be nerves. We have to control that. You put the pressure on yourself. We go back to Anfield and throwing it away in the first leg. The second year we are at Tottenham and lost in the first leg before chasing it here. Last year it was different over one leg - a proper cup game. To finally get the victory over there and then come here and win is full credit to this squad."

"They put a lot of players in the middle and we struggled a lot in the first half to high press and we changed at half-time. We recovered the ball better in the second half and we were much better in the way we played and 4-1 on aggregate against a team that beat Barcelona and Bayern Munich means a lot to us.

"They win the league every year, they are a team built to win, they fought to the end. They a huge team but we were so composed. We fought together and we're in the final of the Champions League and those are nice words. People believe it’s easy to arrive in the final of the Champions League. Getting to the final now makes sense of what we have done in the past four or five years. Every day these guys have been consistent and this is remarkable. We scored a goal through the hips in the first game, and today Marquinhos hit the bar in the first half - you can be out for little details.

"United won a title because of John Terry's slip and in the last minute against Bayern Munich and Real won a title against Atletico in the 93rd minute. It’s a competition that is so difficult and something in the stars is involved in that."
