On BT Sport, Rio Ferdinand has just stated that he believes Phil Foden is the best young player in the world in terms of current form.

Big claim. On the evidence of tonight, though, it's a valid one.

I have to admit, I tend to have the opinion that with the money they have spent and the depth in their squad, Man City should be winning everything whilst playing total football. However, tonight and in the 1st leg, against a team in PSG who are their equivalents in this respect, they have been utterly brilliant. On this occasion City, I don my hat towards you. Simply fantastic.

This supplied to us by Gracenote...

Man City have won 11 of their 12 Champions League matches this season (W11-D1-L0). This equals the most wins by a team in a single campaign since the current competition format was introduced in 2003/04: also 11 by Real Madrid (2013/14), Barcelona (2014/15) and Bayern (2019/20). All three of those teams won the trophy in their respective campaigns.

The Citizens are the first English club to record seven consecutive victories in the Champions Cup/Champions League. Man United (1965-1966), Leeds (1969-1970) and Arsenal (2005) all had runs of six in a row.

And this is why Neymar isn't a patch on Messi or Ronaldo. Or in time Phil Foden.

Every Man City player could be the man of the match. Dias and Stones were outstanding. Mahrez obviously with his goals. Bernardo Silva, Gundogan and Fernandinho. I could go through all of the side. They were absolutely outstanding.

You can rate the players here.

I think this is written in the stars, "City win Champions League on penalties, Agüero scores winning penalty with his last kick" kinda like Drogba in 2012.

FT: Man City 2-0 PSG (Agg: 4-1)

    Manchester City

Manchester City's Riyad Mahrez talking to BT Sport: "It was a very good game. We didn't start well again - we didn't have a good first half but we got the goal and we were more comfortable. We played well second half and we could have scored more. They lost their nerve and started to kick us and after the red card it was more comfortable.

"It wasn't the game plan to counter attack, but they had to come at us and maybe at times we were a bit deeper and we are good on the counter. That's how the two goals came about and we are happy."

On the first goal: "Of course Ederson's long pass was planned. We know he is capable of putting the ball in the other goal and we work it all the time and today it worked."

On playing in a semi-final and reaching a final: "You have to be solid and everybody has to be solid defensively and that's why we did. We didn't concede much and I think that's why we're in the final. It's good. We have another game on Saturday we need to be win to be league champions and then we'll concentrate on the Champions League final."

Liz: We know that most of the time bullies win. That's how the world works. Well, not tonight. We've made PSG look ordinary. The cheating, diving, rolling around, and now completely lost discipline, hacking away at our players. Pathetic. Teams like that should not prosper

Fully deserved from City tonight. PSG gave it a go for maybe 50-60 minutes. It's not enough. Lots of quality in that PSG side. They had a go and then they fell away but they were forced to fall away. I've got to reiterate the individual performances from City tonight gave City as a team a collective very strong and professional team performance and they deserve to go to the final.

My wedding day was supposed to be May 29th, the same day as the final. Due to Covid we had to postpone, now it feels like it was meant to be. So I can watch my beloved City in their first CL Final!!
