Any threat of an early Real charge looks to have been headed off by Chelsea. They've managed this really well, pressing high, keeping the visitors deep ion the pitch.

That's an incredible effort. Kai Havertz has so much confidence now. That was a stunning header. Thibaut Courtois was completely beaten.

Hazard to score this half. Blame those saying how he isn't the player he used to be.

    Tony, Somerset

Everyone keeps saying how Hazard has fallen. Cue the second-half masterclass..

Chelsea need to approach the second half exactly the same the same way they did in the first half. Thomas Tuchel will say to his players 'get the next goal in game and play the way we've been playing'. You feel there are more goals in this.

Once more unto the breach, dear friends.

That first half was largely on simmer. Let's hope the second one turns up the hob

Ricology: How Ironic that the previous fringe players, Azpilicueta, Kante under Lampard became focal points under Tuchel!

Peter: Please, please Chelsea, don't get complacent .... focus, focus, focus...

Don't see why people are banging on about Werner scoring. He's a striker, that's his job. Both him and Havertz have been the flops of the season by a country mile.

Real Madrid will be happy. Not in terms of the goal they have conceded but their ball retention has been good and Edouard Mendy has pulled off three good saves.

Zinedine Zidane will be saying to his players at half-time 'there is something here for us. We believe we can get back into the game'.

Douglas McFarlane: We need a second goal in the second half, Real Madrid look dangerous and had it not been for Mendy they could've scored twice.

Ben Shekari: Edouard 'massive-save' Mendy massively saving his team to the final.

Jared Maobe: Mount is giving Modric lots of room with the ball. He needs to be tighter a bit.

This is the first time Chelsea have faced four shots on target in the first half of a Champions League game since October 2017 vs Roma.

Chelsea have only faced more shots on target in two games under Tuchel - 7 vs WBA (April 3rd) and 5 vs Porto (April 7th).

  15. HALF-TIMEpublished at 45 mins

Chelsea 1-0 Real Madrid (Agg: 2-1)

Only a few seconds of added time.

The half ends with Havertz wasting a great opportunity, failing to look up to spot Mount's run into a threatening position.

Advantage Chelsea. They are heading to Istanbul as it stands but there is a big 45 minutes to come.

    Don't go far.

Chelsea have got to get to half time with a clean sheet - that's the first port of call - because the danger is always there of Madrid getting the next goal. Get to half time, manage the game.

Actually very sad to see the fall of hazard. Half the player he used to be for Chelsea. Looks like he's lost all self belief.

    Nathan

That goal is exactly what Werner deserves this year. His work rate has been truly acceptable, and he's reaped the rewards as the Madrid defenders stopped and watched.

    Kante again.

He is doing a superb job for his side high up the pitch. He sets Mount away down the left for a run that ends with him cutting inside and seeing a shot blocked. Werner tries to hook goalwards but doesn't catch it.
