For all that talk of Villarreal parking the bus, they've done all the attacking in the five minutes since the restart.

Mac-King Thompson: This game needs a poet and Juan Mata is a laureate! Get him on, he’d read the lines and get players behind! Glory Glory Man Utd!

Manchester United need someone to break the lines and take the game to Villarreal. It has worked perfectly so far for Unai Emery so Man Utd need to be patient, but they are going to need a goal in the next 15-20 minutes or Villarreal will grown in confidence with their game plan.

Villarreal have just parked the bus, a strategy which can't succeed for another 45 minutes. Man U just have to calm down. Pogba pen coming up!

Man Utd have not shown any real threat. Emery has setup Villarreal very effectively. Naive from Solskjær. Must change tactics at HT.

Michael: Tuanzebe should have started over Lindelof, no shadow of a doubt. Rashford has had a poor run of form for past 7 months, no surprise he's offering nothing now. He'll still grab a cheeky assist though.

Ivan: Get Mata on 2nd half (for just about anyone in this line-up). United haven't got a clue about how to work the ball thru Villareal's back-nine... this needs a wise old head to break them down.

Unai Emery will be the happiest guy in the stadium. He will be thinking it couldn't have gone any better.

They have set out the way they wanted to play, and made the most of a set play. It is really poor from Man Utd - it is a bread and butter ball in and he's got in between Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly to basically get a free contact on the ball.

When Villarreal have had the ball they've played their way out with good purposeful balls forward. If they have to go long and break the press they will do that. Out of possession they've just looked very organised.

  17. 'Man Utd need to move the ball and be dynamic'published at 20:51 British Summer Time 26 May 2021

Manchester United have shot themselves in the foot because they are taking too long to pass the ball. Eric Bailly is having three, four or five touches, Victor Lindelof is doing the same. You've got to take one or two touch and move Villarreal.

It is very slow, and it is not the Manchester United. Get the ball wide and get it crossed, be more dynamic.

Only one shot on target each in that half.

    On that late almost-own goal

This is unlucky from Mason Greenwood - it could have dropped anywhere. It is much better from him.

  20. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:47 British Summer Time 26 May 2021

The corner is cleared and the half-time whistle goes.

Villarreal are 45 minutes away from glory.
