    Manchester United 1-3 Tottenham

The way that Erik Lamela has gone down is embarrassing. You can't raise your hands but the way that Lamela has reacted has got Anthony Martial sent off.

Lamela can't be proud of that surely. It's pathetic.

  2. goal

    Harry Kane (31 mins)

I would say the wheels have come off but it's more like the whole car has imploded. Circus stuff.

David de Gea plays it out to Eric Bailly inside the area, he tries to pass it to Nemanja Matic but Harry Kane slides in and wins it back. It's played to Son, who squares it for Kane, who buries it into the bottom corner.

  3. RED CARD - Anthony Martialpublished at 16:58 British Summer Time 4 October 2020

    Manchester United 1-2 Tottenham

Oh my word! Manchester United are down to 10 men and this is beyond soft. Erik Lamela pushes the Frenchman as they prepare for a corner, Martial responds with a brush off of his own and Lamela goes down.

Is that really a red card?!

  4. CLOSE!published at 28 mins

    Manchester United 1-2 Tottenham

Sergio Reguilon has a shot from the corner which is blocked inside the goalmouth, and then Tanguy Ndombele has another one blocked!

    Oh hang on!

  5. GREAT SAVE!published at 26 mins

    Manchester United 1-2 Tottenham

There are a lot of holes in this Manchester United team, that's for sure. Serge Aurier has the freedom of Stretford to run down the right and get a shot in, David de Gea beats it out.

Seconds later he saves again, and Erik Lamela's follow-up deflects wide.

If we spent £100million on two centre backs, it wouldn't make a difference. Great coaching makes the difference and Ole isn't a league winning coach. Every Utd fan would swap him for Ancelotti in a heartbeat.

  7. CLOSE!published at 25 mins

    Manchester United 1-2 Tottenham

United have been pushing hard but it's Spurs who could extend their lead! Just a long ball over the top springs Son in on goal, his touch is normally so secure but it gets away from him and David de Gea can sweep it up. Chance.

Robbie Savage is wrong. They don't need 1 centre half. They need 2 and a left back. Telles and 2 of Koulibaly, Upamecano, Skriniar.

  9. CLOSE!published at 23 mins

    Manchester United 1-2 Tottenham

Unlucky! Mason Greenwood is sharp as a tack, curling in an effort under pressure and it skims the outside of the post.

  10. Postpublished at 20 mins

    Manchester United 1-2 Tottenham

it's certainly not dull, Mason Greenwood now has a shot charged down by Eric Dier, who might be the best centre-back on the pitch on current form. That's not intended as a compliment.

No goal for 13 minutes. Rubbish.

Oh hang on, Marcus Rashford smacks the post! He was offside though.

Joe Wedgwood: How can Ole justify playing Maguire still? He's a total liability. Costs goal after goal after goal. Pathetic.

Udo: One day, someone will tell me why Maguire is worth £80m

  14. Man Utd's defensive woespublished at 16:47 British Summer Time 4 October 2020

    Man Utd 1-2 Tottenham

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport at Old Trafford

There have been question marks over Manchester United's pursuit of Jadon Sancho when central defence seems a bigger area of concern.

United did have the third best defensive record in the Premier League last season but it has never really felt as though they have the third best defence.

Those two goals were terrible. Harry Maguire failed to clear for the first and then moved away from the ball to allow Harry Kane to take a quick free-kick for the second.

Elon Mast: Can United sell Maguire to fund the Sancho transfer?

Paul Collins: Maguire is and always had been wildly overrated based on a world cup with England where his only two half decent performances were against the mighty Panama and Tunisia. Leicester mugged them with what they paid. He's bang average at best and proves it constantly

Harry Kane has got six assists this season already. Is he going to end up in midfield one day? I say that, he's on the halfway line now taking the ball from his defenders.

Why is it the likes of Fernandes, Pogba and Jorginho are allowed to gain a material advantage at pens with a skip or a stutter but if a keeper moves an inch off the line he is penalised with a retake? If the odds are now so much to the takers advantage why not go the whole hog and award a penalty goal along the lines of rugby's penalty try and get rid of penalties all together!

Are we sure Jose Mourinho is managing one of these sides? Spurs have a free-kick which is cleared and Manchester United almost have a three on one counter-attack. It was down to Son to get back and clear.
