People mention the empty stadiums and while I do think they have an effect on these crazy scorelines, I think the lack of a proper preseason is having much more of an effect on these results! Players don't seem fully fit or know their systems well enough.

What a time to be alive if you're an avergae or above centre-half, transfer deadline day coming on the back of this day of results.

I'm only 27 but this might be the best Villa game I have ever seen.

Unfair to blame Adrian, as some commentators are doing. Villa have simply outplayed Liverpool everywhere. Chelsea conceded 3 last week but fought back, this is arrogant or apathetic by the reds.

I mean, it's nearly eight, as sub Bertrand Traore gallops through the defence until James Milner makes a cracking recovery tackle.

I'm a Liverpool fan but football at the moment is just bonkers!!! I love it!! More of this total smorgasbord of oddity! Well done Villa!

I know I joked about that bet on the two scorelines at Old Trafford and here but in all seriousness, what sort of odds are we talking!

    Sporting sorcery at work.

If the Liverpool defenders had Alisson behind them they'd feel more solid. After Adrian made that early mistake it just has a huge effect on the whole team and they've just struggled massively. But at the same time, defensively they've been nowhere near good enough.

I'm not saying this result was coming but playing such a high line they've been fortunate not to be punished more in some games.

I think I speak for all Manchester United fans when I say this Villa performance could not have come at a better time. I could kiss their badge!

    Dan, Wrexham.

Whatever the final score, I'd still rather be a Liverpool fan tonight and not a Man Utd one.

Adrian makes a couple of saves but neither were particularly convincing, the brilliantly named Marvelous Nakamba slams a shot at him from 25 yards.

Villa make a few changes but they could be bringing on a few members of their European Cup winning side and they'd see this home from here. What a night for the club, who so nearly went down just a few weeks ago.
