  1. Walcott deal almost donepublished at 16:13 British Summer Time 5 October 2020

    Phil McNulty
    BBC Sport chief football writer

Looks like only medical formalities left for Theo Walcott to return to his old club Southampton from Everton on loan.

It will be interesting to see if Everton make a late move to strengthen in attack with Moise Kean also signing PSG on loan - but it appears focus has suddenly shifted to a goalkeeper.

Everton would like to get a deal for either Manchester United's Sergio Romero and Paulo Gazzaniga from Spurs over the line tonight.

Jordan Pickford's jitters - with another dreadful error against Brighton on Saturday - appear to have forced manager Carlo Ancelotti's hand.

So still time for action at their Finch Farm training HQ.

  2. Pellistri heading to Man Utd?published at 16:10 British Summer Time 5 October 2020

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport

Manchester United are in talks to sign teenage winger Facundo Pellistri from Uruguayan club Penarol.

United have been watching Pellistri for a year after being alerted to him by the club’s former striker Diego Forlan.

Unlike Amad Traore, who is likely to stay with Atalanta until January, Pellistri, 18, would join United immediately if the deal gets done in time.

  3. The six stages of a medicalpublished at 16:04 British Summer Time 5 October 2020

Football medicals are the last hurdle a new signing needs to clear before being unveiled to the media in the home kit.

But it can be a nervous time for fans because any issue picked up could put paid to a potentially exciting move.

So what goes on in these medicals?

  4. Bolasie drawing interest from Turkish clubspublished at 15:59 British Summer Time 5 October 2020

    Alistair Magowan
    BBC Sport

Everton winger Yannick Bolasie has been told by boss Carlo Ancelotti that there is no room in the squad for the 31-year-old.

As a high earner, his departure would help trim the wage bill, and I'm told there is interest from clubs in Turkey.

Bolasie, who joined Everton in 2016, has suffered from injury problems, and spent last season on loan at Sporting Lisbon.

  6. 'There is a lot to like with Partey'published at 15:50 British Summer Time 5 October 2020

    Guillem Balague
    Spanish football journalist

Thomas Partey is a midfielder with the ability to pass short and long with quality.

He’s very intelligent in the way he moves, brave in the way he presses high (up the pitch) and helps the team with high dynamism.

One-touch football is something that he enjoys doing.

He is strong, fast as well, so there is a lot to like with Thomas Partey.

  7. Is Partey suited to the Premier League?published at 15:47 British Summer Time 5 October 2020

    John Bennett
    BBC World Service Sport

As we find out every day on BBC World Service radio shows, English Premier League football is huge in Ghana so there is real excitement over there about the possibility of Thomas Partey moving to Arsenal.

When I’ve covered the national team, the talk has always been that Partey is made for the English game. He’s excellent at winning the ball, works extremely hard (as you would expect for a player schooled by the demanding Diego Simeone) and covers a huge amount of ground box to box and wing to wing.

Partey is also good in the air and is a very positive player, driving a team forward, dictating play and starting attacks.

One criticism I've heard levelled at him is that he doesn’t score enough goals.

He started his career at Odometah FC in Ghana, before he was spotted by an agent who took him to Spain in 2011. Nine years later, the next step in his career could be signing for Arsenal. The fans in north London and in Ghana will have their fingers crossed.

  8. 'No negotiating - Arsenal have to meet 50m euro buyout for Partey'published at 15:42 British Summer Time 5 October 2020

    Guillem Balague
    Spanish football journalist

There is no deal to be done with Atletico Madrid (for Thomas Partey) because Atletico will not negotiate at all.

That means what Arsenal have to do is go to La Liga and say they are willing to meet his buyout clause.

So no negotiating is taking place, Arsenal just have to take that last step.

It has been reported in Spain they they are willing to pay the 50 million euros of his buyout clause, so we will have to see.

  10. Should he stay or should he go?published at 15:32 British Summer Time 5 October 2020

Should Dele Alli stay at Tottenham or is his time up at the club and he should head to Paris St-Germain?

What do you think? Thumbs up for stay, down to go.

  11. 'Alli likely to stay at Tottenham - until January, at least'published at 15:31 British Summer Time 5 October 2020

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport

Paris St-Germain are really interested in Dele Alli, but he has played the last couple of games for Tottenham. I think he is more likely to remain at Tottenham, at least until January, and then assess his options.

The interesting thing is we are only three months away from the next transfer window opening and that puts a different light on the situation that everyone is in at the moment.

  15. Who is Raphinha?published at 15:22 British Summer Time 5 October 2020

    RaphinhaImage source, Getty Images

It looks very much like Brazilian winger Raphinha is going to be joining Leeds from Rennes for around £17m this deadline day.

He is primarily a right-sided player, one with plenty of ability and an eye for goal. He loves a dribble. It is likely that he'll provide competition for Helder Costa.

Raphinha had a busy day yesterday. He played and scored in the 2-2 draw with Reims before flying to Leeds last night to discuss his move. Last season he netted five times and bagged three assists in 22 appearances. Interestingly, Raphinha was brought in to Rennes as a replacement for Watford-bound Ismalia Sarr, which may give you an indication of the kind of player he is.

As we reported earlier, Dan James (who came desperately close to joining Leeds on deadline day in January 2019) was on the club's radar again this summer, but Manchester United aren't keen on doing business. Hence the shift to Raphinha.

  17. Outgoings likely at Villa Park?published at 15:14 British Summer Time 5 October 2020

    Aston Villa

David Michael, My Old Man Said Podcast:

After recently terminating Jota’s contract, Aston Villa are apparently keen to see another player or two leave before the window closes.Villa boss Dean Smith spoke about the need to not "stockpile" players after Sunday's 7-2 win over Liverpool but such moves won’t necessarily be tied to today’s transfer window deadline.

With EFL clubs a likely destination for some of Villa's fringe players, it means there’s until 16 October to finalise any deals. And with the wage bill a concern, it seems, in terms of further incoming players, Villa’s business is done.

  18. DONE DEAL - Arsenal youngster joins Blackpoolpublished at 15:12 British Summer Time 5 October 2020

Blackpool have signed the Northern Ireland international Dan Ballard on loan from Arsenal.

The 21-year-old-central defender has signed until January with the League 1 club.
