Thiago Silva is unfit, otherwise he and Zouma, who has been our best defender since project restart, are the clear first-choice pairing.

Havertz at fault for the goal. Feel like his hat-trick against, let's face it, a struggling Championship side (Barnsley, in the Carabao Cup) has papered over the gaping cracks in his game. He's not good enough.

Former Everton striker Jermaine Beckford speaking to BBC's Final Score about Jordan Henderson's disallowed goal: "When I saw it first-hand, live, I thought to myself 'it's game over, Liverpool have won the game 3-2'.

"Looking back, watching the replays, I still thought the goal was going to be accepted and it would have counted.

"When they ruled it out, it didn't make any sense to me."

    Everton 2-2 Liverpool

    Everton

Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti speaking to MOTD: "It was terrific. It was a good game in general. Exciting game. Lot of fight, lot of pressing, lot of intensity.

"We competed with them. We were 1-0 down and equalised, 2-1 down and equalised.

"It was a good test and I have a good feeling.

"To know we can compete with the champions of the last season it gives us more confidence for the future.

On Liverpool's disallowed goal: "I hoped the goal was offside. If we lost my feeling would not have changed.

On Calvert-Lewin's leaps: "It's genetic. Thank goodness he has it and is using it very well.

On Godfrey: "He played really well. He had an opponent not so easy to control, like Mane.

"Seamus Coleman has a hamstring injury. We will probably have Jonjoe Kenny for the next game."

If Southampton get the ball to Theo Walcott early and leave him one-on-one with Ben Chilwell, I've got every confidence that he will go past him. He's got the pace to get past him and the end product as well, which is key.

It's been a great half. You talk about that press of Southampton and when it works, it works well and now they have sustained pressure on Chelsea and it's the best part of the game for them.

Southampton will be delighted to go into half-time just one goal down.

That Ings goal has made things a lot more interesting.

Werner looked to have put Chelsea en route to victory, but it's far from certain now.

Saints were second best for much of that half. But they remain firmly in the game.

We were talking about a cool finish from Timo Werner and this is as cool as you like as well.

It's a simple through ball, Danny Ings is through on Kepa, goes round him and it's a nice finish.

They're not done yet. With Danny Ings in your side you never are.

The striker is alert and ready for when the chance comes, with it supplied by Che Adams after he had robbed the lazy Kai Havertz in the middle of the Chelsea half. Ings collects the through-ball, rounds Kepa and finishes into the empty net.

Southampton are enjoying some possession and are just pleased to take the sting out of the game.

But when they haven't got the ball, it just isn't working for them.

At 2-0 down they need to change the game but they're not.

Initially looks like a hat-trick opportunity for Werner as he again gets in behind the Saints defence to collect after a flick from Havertz. He fires over, but it wouldn't have counted anyway as the flag goes up.
