16-year-old Walcott nets first FA Cup goal as Saints beat MK Dons

It'll be interesting to see if Theo Walcott gets on today after returning to Southampton, the club where it all began for the winger, on deadline day.

Walcott, who has 47 England caps, started his career at the Saints before moving to Arsenal in 2006.

Everton signed him from the Gunners in a £20m deal in January 2018.

"I had a few opportunities from other clubs, but as soon as Southampton came in for me, it's part of me and has made me into the player I am. It's in my heart," said the 31-year-old.

"I will probably cry, I bet, when I first play, and it means so much. All the people that made it happen, I can't thank them enough. Honestly, I'm so pleased."

    Mark Lawrenson
    Ex-Liverpool defender

Chelsea's new players are finding their feet and right now it feels like teams will get opportunities against them.

Southampton have won their past two games after a sticky start to the season, and I am sure they will have their chances on Saturday too. I would still back the Blues to win, though.

    Prediction: 2-0

We'll have all the reaction to the Merseyside derby soon, but as is the way with football during the pandemic, a game is never far from kicking off.

At Stamford Bridge, Chelsea are hosting Southampton. That'll be under way in just over 20 minutes time.

If that is offside the game has gone completely mad

    Deano

VAR should hang their heads in shame. The single worst game I have ever witnessed for refereeing. When will it stop?

    TSam Harkness, Taunton

Liverpool fans won't be so happy now. Not everything going their way now like last season, injuries and VAR decisions.

Did the international break make you forget about debatable offsides and VAR. Well here they are again, showing up to the party like a drunk, obnoxious uncle.

Dave Payn: If that's offside I'm going to be the next Pope.

Nick Hughes: You are joking. What part of Mané is offside? Pickford saved by offside and VAR again

Samuel Ager: Ahhh controversial offsides. Hello again. You thought handball was gonna take all the hits this season?

Another draw in the Merseyside derby. Fair to say it was pretty eventful.

Feel free to have your say on Twitter and text about goals, non-goals, fouls, red cards, offsides, VAR. You know, the usual.

No, this is the final twist.

Mane was offside. Apparently. It is by an inch at most.

Offside is offside say the laws. You'll find plenty willing to argue against that strict stance.

    Jordan Henderson

    The final twist.

Liverpool capitalise almost immediately after Richarlison's dismissal. Mane pulls the ball back and Henderson's shot finds the net after looping up and in following an attempted save from Pickford.

    But wait...

Dennis Ethan: Richarlison SENT OFF! What is a derby without strong tackles and a red card?!

Benia: That's a leg breaker by Richarlison. No excuse, Straight red!

As much as I hope all the injured players recover quickly, it's nice to see some blood and thunder return to the Merseyside Derby.

There will be a minimum of five added minutes.

  15. RED CARD FOR EVERTONpublished at 89 mins

    Everton 2-2 Liverpool

Richarlison isn't going to complete the game, and rightly so.

He slides in late and recklessly on Thiago, who he catches dangerously. He stays down afterwards, but it won't change the outcome. Michael Oliver has the card out long before he brandishes it and off goes the Brazilian.

Another brilliant rise from DCL. Why haven't Everton been playing those balls into the box until now?

    Christofferson

    He's had his critics but Pickford's save means it's 2-2 not 2-3.

    Phill, Havant

In the air DCL reminds me of Duncan Ferguson. Huge leap and hand time, and a great ability to aim the header out of the keeper's reach. He's a lot quicker than Big Dunc used to be though!
