MyEyesHaveSeenTheGlory: It’s obvious that Lamela must be injured as he’s not even on the bench, if anyone was gonna keep Bale out of that starting 11 today it was him after that performance at Utd...where does Jose get that Bergwijn pick from?

Can I get some sympathy for my Welsh friend who triple captained Bale in fantasy league this week?

    Scramble!

The free-kick is whipped to the near post, where Guaita fails to gather initially, prompting a flurry of kicks and prods. The keeper fights his way in and drops on the ball.

When you think Crystal Palace are at home, to have sat as deep as this and just soaked up the play. It's a brave strategy for a manager to be comfortable to play like that at home, but Roy Hodgson is. If his objective is to keep Crystal Palace in the Premier League, if they claim another three points today then it is a great start to the season for them.

Ali Pericles: I have less of an issue with Batshuayi’s goal being ruled out than Henderson’s, because it was the assistant’s call, and again was too close to call for certain. But when calls are as close as that, sensible thing would be to go with referee’s call like with cricket?

Adam Sh: Re: Luminol (15.17) why when the ball can be controlled and scored from other parts of the body? Re: Aidan (15.17) there should be no doubt with a VAR offside, you're either offside or not (even by a little bit). Why should attackers have benefit of doubt anyways?

Somehow, Palace have managed to make their side even more conservative by taking off Batshuayi and sending on Luka Milivojevic.

Brighton chuck Pascal Gross into the mix to try and find a bit of magic. Dan Burn departs.

Another Brighton opportunity goes begging as March and Maupay get in each other's way. White's diagonal ball is gathered on the run by the winger, but his team-mates cuts across him, they collide and the ball is cleared.

This game feels like an attack v defence drill in training. Brighton's staff hands have been stuck to their heads every time their team miss a chance.

The free-kick is met by the head of Kouyate but Brighton refuse to go away. They want a penalty as a Solly March goes down in the box but both the referee (and a subsequent VAR check) are not convinced.

    They got it right, too.

We've had 70 minutes and Palace, the home side, have had one shot at goal. And it was a penalty. That shouldn't really have been given.

Brighton continue to press for the equaliser, but Bissouma's shot in the box is blocked. From the resulting corner, the ball is cleared to the edge of the box for the same player to blaze over. Albion's 11 effort, two of which have been on target.

They were both just having a go at each other. There was very little for the referee to figure out. The game has been played in a really good spirit and this is just part of the game. It's entertaining.

Mitchell and Lamptey have a bit of a running battle going. A shove from the latter follows a challenge between the two prompting them to come head to head. Did Lamptey aim out a little kick? The referee gets involved and calms it all down. No cards. Sensible stuff.
