It's great play from Lamela. He bides his time and nearly picks out Kane.

Sanchez got a touch on it. Good keeping.

He is still scoring goals as well though - and he's very close to opening the scoring there!

Son sends Erik Lamela away down the left, his cross is deflected and Harry Kane is there o sweep it in, but he's well watched by new keeper Robert Sanchez.

    Tottenham 0-0 Brighton

For a good few years people have mentioned Harry Kane ending up in a deeper role like Wayne Rooney did and I couldn't really see it.

But Kane has recorded eight assists in six Premier League appearances this season, the most he has ever provided in a single campaign in the competition. In fact, Kane has more assists than any other player in Europe’s top five leagues this season.

    Jose knows what he's doing.

    Tottenham 0-0 Brighton

It takes 20 seconds for the rapid Tariq Lamptey to fly past a man and win a foul. An exciting prospect for sure down the Brighton right.

Got a real hankering for a Sunday roast myself now. Rookie error talking about food.

Anyway, we are off and running!

Hope Dele Alli has taken advantage of a rare Sunday off before lockdown #2 and gone for a carvery. If they're open where he is, that is.

At the very least, a full Sunday roast at home.

  10. 'We didn't play well enough'published at 19:03 Greenwich Mean Time 1 November 2020

    FT: Man Utd 0-1 Arsenal

    Manchester United

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer told BBC MOTD:

"That's football for you. It goes up and down.

"We didn't turn up, especially in the first half. That's what we have to address because we know these boys can be so good.

"We knew that this was the big game this week. And unfortunately in the first half we didn't play well enough.

"Second half we played better, we never seemed to have to defend too much. But when we did have to, we were too slow and gave away the penalty.

"The boy is running away from goal, there is no need to go for the ball. Not much of a touch, but it's probably a penalty.

"It's for other people to judge if we're making progress. We keep on working and we have another chance on Saturday against Everton."

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer speaking to Sky Sports:

“When you have played well you think you can take your foot off the pedal but that is not how it works because this was a big game against a good team and you have to be absolutely spot on with everything.

"If you are slightly late for a tackle they get away from you and you give a foul away and we weren’t at the races.

"We were too sloppy, too many passes went astray and the rotation was not there.

"Too many things that can go wrong in a game did for us today. Today we didn’t get the response we hopes for."

On conceding a penalty: "He needs to stay on his feet. Paul [Pogba] knows it’s a soft penalty to give away similar to Nemanja [Matic] who almost got a penalty."

On struggling at home and making progress: "Home and away form is out the window with no fans in the stadium. You can’t look at that. It doesn’t really mean too much. We played fantastic on Wednesday and now we lose. But we need to get points on the board. Now we need to focus on next week and Everton.

"I’ll just keep on working. It is a good group that wants to win, go forward and work hard. Today they will go home disappointed but I know these boys and they will get back at it."

As mentioned earlier Spurs can actually go second in the very early table with a win tonight. Gareth Bale is all smiles as he goes throgh the warm-up with his new team-mates. Must've found a great pitch & putt nearby.

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba told BBC MOTD:

"We know it's a poor performance. Myself, I cannot give a foul away like this.

"I thought I would touch the ball but I didn't. (I) cost us the goal today with the penalty.

"Like I say, details. We have to do better, the team, myself, it starts with me.

"I felt like I touched him a bit, I knew I was in the box, I shouldn't have given a penalty away like that.

"Maybe I was a bit out of breath, it made me do this stupid mistake

"I will learn from that, I'm not the best defensively in the box, I can work on that.

"We also need to do more with the ball creating chances.

"We didn't expect to be man for man, but after this we can adapt, we have to find a solution but we didn't. That's why we weren't dangerous with the ball

"But like I say, the team performance needs to be a lot better."

  14. 'Every player was top drawer'published at 18:51 Greenwich Mean Time 1 November 2020

    FT: Man Utd 0-1 Arsenal

    Arsenal

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta speaking to BBC MOTD: "I wanted to keep it quiet from the players. I wanted to generate belief and I asked them to be who we are as a team right now.

"I’m delighted because we played with a lot of courage and big personality.

"They played a really tricky formation with four midfielders and two that constantly strain your back four. We could have scored twice in the first half and when we scored the goal we had to manage those moments. There was high stress, it is different to any other ground.

"Individually you have to win the fights and step up to the occasion and the performance of every player today was top drawer."

On Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's goal drought: "I’m glad it’s finished. Every striker needs goals and in these moments we have to create more for Auba. He has scored the crucial goal and it is going to lift his confidence."

  16. 'A question of concentration'published at 18:50 Greenwich Mean Time 1 November 2020

    Tottenham v Brighton (19:15 GMT)

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho: "I hope that against Antwerp it was a question of concentration, I hope we see the team today who has fought so well in other games.

"We have a big squad, in the last match I was disappointed with our general attitude, not individuals."

  17. 'Very important win'published at 18:45 Greenwich Mean Time 1 November 2020

    FT: Man Utd 0-1 Arsenal

    Arsenal

Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno speaking to BBC MOTD: “It was a very important win for us. It’s been a long time since we won away against a team in the big since and it’s been 14 years here since we won, which is too long.

"It was a collectively strong performance it was very hard for Manchester United to create chances at the end. We have worked on that.

"It is a long long process. We still have a lot of work in front of us. We have had a lot games where we did well but some where we could have done better. The most important thing is that we stay on the ground and know where we come from."

Graham Potter has been explaining his decision to start inexperienced Spanish keeper Robert Sanchez for Brighton ahead of Mat Ryan at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Sanchez, 22, is making his first Premier League appearance after spending last season in League One at Rochdale on loan.

"It’s a breather for Maty, who has played a lot of football over the last two or three years and I’m looking forward to seeing Rob," said Potter.

"Rob is a young goalkeeper with some fantastic attributes and we think he can help us in this game."

Manchester United captain Harry Maguire told Sky Sports:

"It's hard to put your finger on it. It was disappointing from us. It was a cagey game, a game of few chances.

"We needed to do more, we needed to create more.

"We were confident going into the game. It was important to start the game well. We just gave the ball away too much.

"It's not good enough, we've got to go work hard tomorrow at training.

"We can't find excuses, we've got to look within.

"We haven't won in the league at Old Trafford this season. It's disappointing, we want teams to have a tough time coming here."
