This is definitely Jose Mourinho's strongest side. He has picked this team a lot in the Premier League. The only other decision is where Erik Lamela comes in for Lucas Moura, Steven Bergwijn, or Bale.

I think when Gareth Bale gets fully fit he will be a regular.

Another penalty appeal from Spurs! Harry Kane it is again who cuts inside Yves Bissouma and goes down, this time he gets no joy. Brighton's defenders are not happy.

Brighton are missing any sort of striker. They have none on the pitch. They have played good football but I think we will see Danny Welbeck in the next 15 minutes.

Another almost, that's almost superb from Tanguy Ndombele as he picks the ball up in midfield, rolls away from a tackle and charges into the box. He throws in an outlandish stepover or two and eventually treads on the ball. Still yet to really click for the record signing isn't it?

Former England team-mates Adam Lallana and Harry Kane are having a good old chat on the halfway line, presumably about that penalty decision. Kane is trying his best not to laugh.

Spurs will be second, two points behind early leaders Liverpool. Brighton will be 16th, two points behind Manchester United.

It's been a good first half. Very entertaining, both teams are playing attractive football.

This is Mourinho's best 11. He's got a response, they're winning 1-0. So far so good for Tottenham. The performance isn't there but it's a results game football.

Erik Lamela shoots even though it must be pretty impossible to score from there, puts it into the stands and that's the whistle.

Spurs were very good for 15 minutes or so but since then it's been the visitors asking all the questions.

And now Dan Burn is caught on the ball, lunges in to try and win it back and is booked for catching Erik Lamela. Free-kick to Spurs on the edge of the area, wide on the right. Danger.

A half of 'almosts' ends with Adam Lallana almost bringing down a lovely ball over the top. He'd got past Eric Dier and would have had a free shot from 12 yards had he controlled that.

Tottenham started the better but after their goal Brighton have dominated possession.

Jose isn't happy, he wants to see his side get up the field and start to squeeze Brighton.

Adam Lallana inadvertently blocks a Solly March corss, not much joy in the area for Lallana so far tonight.

Brighton continue to push. Solly March with a fine ball in from the left wing but it's headed away very well at the far post. March then has another go and it deflects away for a corner. Jose is simmering on the touchline. Contemplating an Instagram post I think.

Lingabao: Sorry Rob (11:40), but players have been trying to 'win' pens long before VAR. Now they are just getting a second look.

Sergio Reguilon slides in hard and a touch late on Pascal Gross, who is playing really wide on the right tonight, and goes into the book.

The officials are not on the best of terms with the Brighton side at the moment after giving a penalty against them and deciding not to even it up at the other end.

Now they wait, as they have been instructed, and age before giving Tariq Lamptey offside. Brighton making plenty of the running at the moment though.
