    Tottenham 1-0 Brighton

Good defending from Moussa Sissoko prevents Brighton from getting a shot away. That flowing move was all started by an outrageous bit of skill on the touchline from Tariq Lamptey.

The visitors do get a corner though, playing well in the last 10 minutes or so.

Brighton are not out of this. Lallana with some lovely play in the pockets as well.

Tottenham know this isn't over yet.

VAR has its critics. myself included, but the referee had already decided that was a foul. He just didn't know if it was inside or outside the box.

Brighton are having a better spell now.

It's my impression that since VAR came in the number of penalties has increased. Three in three games today. It would be sad if players try to 'win' pens rather than score normally. I think they have started already.

VAR has a look at this but nope, no foul given.

  6. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 23 mins

    Tottenham 1-0 Brighton

And now Brighton want a penalty! A cross from the right fizzes across the box and Leandro Trossard goes down. Was that an arm around the neck?

  7. Postpublished at 21 mins

    Tottenham 1-0 Brighton

Good play again from Son out on the left wing, jagging inside Adam Webster but curling his shot over the top. Spurs look a real threat while Brighton's strikerless line-up is not asking any questions just yet.

Teez: That's a bad decision. Kane knew what he was doing. He was never going to win the header.

Chris: I genuinely don’t know what is and isn’t a penalty anymore. That was soft at best....

Spurs are slick and sharp so far today, playing some fine stuff as Harry Kane fizzes a diagonal just beyond the break of Matt Doherty.

Never in doubt when Harry Kane steps up to take the penalty.

It was right on the line. It could have gone either way.

When I first saw it I thought he was outside. When you watch it back, I think VAR has made the right decision.

    Tottenham definitely deserve their lead.

Harry Kane now needs one more for 150 Premier League goals. Frightening.

    Harry Kane (Pen 13 mins)

He doesn't miss those. Harry Kane thumps in the spot-kick and triggers some incredibly loud and unnecessary Darude.

It was on the edge, and it's clever from Harry Kane.

The referee's made the right decision there. It's borderline.

That's superb once more from Son who gets in behind the Brighton defence and chips to the back post. Erik Lamela is there and nearly has a header but it's well cleared, before Harry Kane is felled on the edge of the area by Adam Lallana.

Reguilon keeps making me think of the character in the Willy Fog cartoons. A reference for our younger audience there.

Mistake now from Reguilon and Tanguy Ndombele has to make ot over and stop Tariq Lamptey in his tracks. It's a bit of a clothesline and it's a booking.

Seen this situation at Spurs a number of times - a home game v a bottom half team and just a 1-0 gets us above Arsenal and into 2nd - please Spurs, get it right this time!

The weekly bet of Kane to assist Son, Son to assist Kane, has been placed. The odds are shortening considerably each week though, strange.

Excellent play from Son out on the Tottenham left to find Sergio Reguilon, he spins out of a tackle and hits a speculative shot that is on target and Robert Sanchez has to push it over the top. Spurs looking good so far
