Very cool play by City defender Kyle Walker who takes the ball past his own goalkeeper to stop Sadio Mane, run across the six-yard box - in front of an empty net - and clear.

What a ball, what a run. Gabriel Jesus has just tried to generate the power himself and heads it too hard. Big chance.

Both exactly the same - City on the right, ball across and Allison gathers it, Liverpool on the left and Ederson punches it away. What a start to the second half, both keepers in the thick of the action.

Doesn't look like any cautious messages have been issued by Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp at half-time. It's still the same full throttle stuff we saw before the break.

Poor finish by Diogo Jota, whose low, weak shot is straight at Ederson. The in-form Liverpool forward should have done better.

End to end. Both keepers are involved in the space of seconds. Liverpool have a chance and then City counter but Kevin de Bruyne's cross is stopped by Alisson.

Tom: My watch thought I was doing a workout watching that first half

Noel: Cracking game, credit to both sides! With the ball zipping off that surface there's plenty of time for a few more goals/penalties/mistakes yet!

Yves: Yes, I also think that the 2020 PFA player of the year should be marked as overrated for missing one penalty

Whilst VAR was supposed to end such talking points but seems to have made more, what is clear is the quality football on display by two teams way above the rest over a league campaign.

Pretty soon all that premier league strikers will need to practice is diving, kicking the ball at players arms and taking penalties
