    Bournemouth 0-1 Reading

Jefferson Lerma attacks the space down the Reading right and sweeps in a brilliant cross for the Cherries, but the dawdling support fails to get up - Reading's cautious defence heads behind.

David Brooks' corner was dealt with.

Reading celebrate Lucas Joao's goalImage source, PA Media

Lucas Joao's goal separates these two teams with 10 minutes to the break.

Reading have been largely on the backfoot but one dancing scamper from Alfa Semedo teased Asmir Begovic into felling him in the box and Joao took advantage from the spot.

Bournemouth have poured forward but scoring goals against a sheer weight of defence is tough going.

    Bournemouth 0-1 Reading

Really cutely done by Reading, almost producing a goal.

Lucas Joao, who seems to move in his own timezone with a fair amount of grace, cuts in and wrongfoots a defender and it looks as though he's about to put a shot away but instead slides brilliantly into Sone Aluko.

For a second it looks like he's got some space but again in glides Lloyd Kelly to make the intervention.

Then, at the other end, a slippery run by Dominic Solanke sees him hit the turf and Ovie Ejaria puts in a tackle which to some eyes was a penalty. No go from Darren Bond again.

    Bournemouth 0-1 Reading

Bit of concern for former Royals defender Jack Stacey as he looked to twist an ankle or knee perhaps with his studs caught in the turf.

Before that we saw glimpses of the emerging battle between the tricky David Brooks and Reading's Omar Richards. Richards had his measure.

    Bournemouth 0-1 Reading

Reading break the Bournemouth cycle and threaten themselves, but two Tomas Esteves crosses are cleared.

Ovie Ejaria scythed his way though the Bournemouth defence and it took a really well-timed tackle from Lloyd Kelly to snatch the ball away.

Then, a loose tackle hands Reading a free-kick on the edge of the box... Sone Aluko overcooks his curling back-post delivery and it sails behind.

Hasn't got his eye in yet.

    Bournemouth 0-1 Reading

Bournemouth have had plenty of ball but it is also credit to the defensive organisation that Rafael has barely touched the ball.

Only Brooks' shot on the angle from the right have forced him to strain those muscles.

I think more is to come from the Wales winger.

Some one-touch neatness down the left seeks to release Diego Rico, but Lloyd Kelly's cushioned pass on the half-volley overruns the Spanish full-back.

Reading have looked really well-drilled, a sign of the work put in by Veljko Paunovic since his arrival.

We also have an early game in both League One and Two.

Priestfield is the venue for a derby-of-sorts between Gillingham and south east Londoners Charlton at 13:00 GMT.

And then at 13:30 Crawley host Carlisle after their marathon trip from the north west.

    Bournemouth 0-1 Reading

Not quite the Alamo, but Bournemouth have certainly taken control of the possession and territory of late.

Danjuma is hugging the touchline and Diego Rico keeps pushing up down the left to double up on the full-back with the Royals playing a more narrow 4-3-3.

  10. CLOSE!published at 17 mins

    Bournemouth 0-1 Reading

David Brooks gets a shot away, having created some space with his movement within a well-organised rearguard by the Royals, but Rafael beats it away.

The angle wasn't kind but there some some skill in the build up.

Growing period of pressure for Bournemouth.

    Bournemouth 0-1 Reading

Arnaut Danjuma torments Tomas Esteves and wins a corner for Bournemouth.

David Brooks clips one in near-post but it's headed behind by Lucas Joao.

The second is a lower whipped delivery which is cleared and despite recycling the ball, Bournemouth can't create a clear chance.

They're enjoying more possession now though.

    Bournemouth 0-1 Reading

Omar Richards gets back to cut out a threatening Bournemouth attack in the box at the expense of a corner.

The set-piece was poorly constructed and Reading get a goal-kick.

    Bournemouth 0-1 Reading

Reading moving the ball slickly through the thirds and there is plenty of support flooding forward.

Omar Richards put a perfect cross into the box but Alfa Semedo could only guide his looping header wide.

    Big chance that for Reading.

Arnaut Danjuma in actionImage source, PA Media

Arnaut Danjuma the main threat for Bournemouth down the left, as he saunters forward with the ball.

He cuts a ball back to the edge of the box and finds Junior Stanislas, but his shot is blocked at close range.

  15. Postpublished at 10 mins

    Bournemouth 0-1 Reading

Lloyd Kelly makes a tackle on the edge of the Bournemouth box as Sone Aluko was looking to get in behind and gets away with it.

Aluko looks at Darren Bond, but again, the referee is not convinced.

    Bournemouth 0-1 Reading

Bournemouth getting to the edge of the Reading box but the Royals are camped in with two banks of solid defensive wall to face up.

Arnaut Danjuma slaloms between two defenders with a shimmy but his rocket of a shot whacks off Michael Morrison and it goes behind.

The corner was a short one, but comes to nothing.

  17. Postpublished at 6 mins

    Bournemouth 0-1 Reading

Reading really snapping into the Cherries and cutting down the space.

Then when Diego Rico got forward for Bournemouth and got some freedom to run, a sloppy pass goes out for a throw and lets the pressure off the visitors.

Jefferson Lerma has a good tussle down the right and hits the deck hoping for a free-kick but Darren Bond says no.

    Bournemouth 0-0 Reading

Bit of a scrappy start, the ball whizzing around and tackles going in, Diego Rico chopping down Andy Rinomhota.

Sone Aluko's set-piece for Reading subsequently flaps into the box and ends with a Bournemouth free-kick. Sloppy.
