  1. Surprise, surprise?published at 13:05 Greenwich Mean Time 29 November 2020

Alloa Athletic sprung the only real surprise result of Saturday's League Cup ties. But even that 1-0 extra-time win wasn't too much of a shock given they are in the same division as Heart of Midlothian, albeit yesterday's visitors are strong promotion favourites and the hosts are a part-time team.

The Wasps, League One rivals Dunfermline Athletic and four Premiership sides - Hibernian, Livingston, St Johnstone and St Mirren - lie in wait for the winners of today's two games.

Motherwell, who lost at home to St Johnstone, and Aberdeen, beaten away to St Mirren, are the two Premiership sides to have exited so far. It would take the first major shock of the round for the quarter-finals to be minus either holders Celtic or Premiership leaders Rangers.
