    Aston Villa 1-0 Crystal Palace

Anwar El Ghazi finds himself free on the right wing and he crosses deep for Ollie Watkins. The striker gets his head to it, but, under pressure from Joel Ward, can't do much with it.

Watkins thinks he is then fouled by Ward, but there's nothing in it. So little in it, that even VAR can't be bothered to investigate.

    Fulham 0-0 Southampton

It's, it's er, it's just a bad game of football. Neither side look like creating much and when they do they don't look like finishing.

A goal may come from an error or a set-piece or from the bench but at the moment it's as stale as a stalemate comes.

  3. Postpublished at 57 mins

    Aston Villa 1-0 Crystal Palace

Palace have a chance to send everyone forward and Eberechi Eze crosses with a deep free-kick but confident goalkeeping from Emilano Martinez who comes well off his line to gather the ball and quickly bowl it out to start a counter-attack.

It comes to a sudden halt though when Luka Milivojevic chops down Jack Grealish and gets a deserved yellow.

    Martin Keown
Former Arsenal defender on BBC One

It's affecting Aston Villa now having 10 men, they haven't got the numbers especially down that left-hand side. Matt Targett not wanting to come forward, he doesn't want to risk anything. Palace should be really taking charge of this game now.

  5. CLOSE!published at 56 mins

And he has to do better there! Great play again from left-back Antonee Robinson, his cross on the run is sublime and finds Ivan Cavaleiro totally free.

I think he could even control it, he's got that much time. Instead he leans back and nods over the bar.

She's held out for the best part of an hour but Vicki Sparks has just used the phrase 'Boxing Day hangover' to describe this one. Solid effort.

If you got points for neat midfield play outside the penalty areas Fulham would be safe by Christmas every year. They work it well to Antonee Robinson but once he breaches the Saints area he's well closed down.

  7. Postpublished at 50 mins

    Aston Villa 1-0 Crystal Palace

Anwar El Ghazi tries his luck from 25 yards, but away goalkeeper Vicente Guaita is behind it all the way and comfortably deals with it.

  8. Postpublished at 48 mins

    Aston Villa 1-0 Crystal Palace

Wilfried Zaha tries to out-pace Kortney Hause, but the Villa defender does well to not let him get ahead. Zaha goes down in the penalty area, but there's no appeal for a penalty and we continue. Good defending from Hause.

  9. Postpublished at 50 mins

    Fulham 0-0 Southampton

We're a few minutes ahead at Fulham because of that late sending-off at Villa Park.

Fulham work the ball nicely out wide, Bobby Reid sends in a dangerous cross and Alex McCarthy in the Saints goal lets it go. It nearly ends up in the back of the net but skims the far post - I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and call that a good leave...

  10. We go againpublished at 16:06 Greenwich Mean Time 26 December 2020

    Aston Villa 1-0 Crystal Palace

We're back under way at Villa Park and Palace, with one extra player, have 45 minutes to claw their way back into this one.

If it stays a draw, by the way, Fulham would remain in the drop zone but would only be a point behind Brighton, who face West Ham tomorrow.

Here come the sides back out at Craven Cottage. From the body language of the Saints players I'm guessing that the temperature has dropped a tad...

  14. 'Close but not close enough'published at 15:58 Greenwich Mean Time 26 December 2020

FT: Leicester City 2-2 Manchester United

    Manchester United

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer speaking to BBC Sport: "When there is 10 minutes to go and we scored a goal you think get on the ball and see the game out, but it wasn't to be. We have come back so many times from losing positions to win so we know the feeling from the other side.

"Marcus Rashford is always lively, he is always there or thereabouts with scoring goals. Good finish and he knows he had a couple of other chances but that is football for you.

"Victor Lindelof has a back problem and it seems like he has aggravated it today. We had an early kick off today and that gives us a few more hours to prepare for the next game.

"We knew today was going to be a difficult one, it was close to a win but not close enough."

  15. 'Pleased with the mentality'published at 15:57 Greenwich Mean Time 26 December 2020

FT: Leicester City 2-2 Manchester United

    Leicester City

Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers speaking to BBC Sport: "We showed the mentality to come back. I thought some of our attacking play was very good.

"You are playing against a team that is so quick on the counter attack but I felt we counter pressed very well.

"The real pleasing aspect was that today was another sign for us of improvement where if you can't win it you make sure you don't lose it so I am pleased with the mentality.

On Jamie Vardy: "I thought he was outstanding today. The space he creates with his movement and running. I am delighted for the team, delighted for Jamie and it was a good game of football.

    Alan Shearer
Former England striker on BBC One

It's a really good game - Aston Villa might regret missing those chances they had in first half I thought they were the better team, got the goal, they've created some really good chances to score the second but it all now changes in the second half with that red card.

Aston Villa go in with the lead, but are down to 10 with Tyrone Mings dismissed. Crystal Palace will still fancy their chances.

    Aston Villa 1-0 Crystal Palace

Sadly Bertrand Traore is the man who has to make way as Villa boss Dean Smith looks to tighten things up after going down to 10. Traore has been excellent and he may still be the match-winner.

On comes Ezri Konsa for the hosts.

Oluwakayode: Tyrone Mings seems more interested in a battle than playing football..Utterly naive

Joe Carton-Kelly: Why is it when one player flares up at another we have both players booked everytime. Mings did nothing when Zaha flared up at him and now he's off. My least favourite thing that happens in football, know what's happening refs!

Mings gets what he deserves! Complete bully
