Matty Locke: Id be interested to find out if any of those singing Bruce's praises would swap him for their team's manager

Willem Mevius: I'm seeing some things from Sheffield Utd that resemble how they played early last season. That draw with 10 men helped to boost confidence. And maybe losing Berge might actually be a blessing in disguise, as it will force them to play more direct.

  9. goal

GOAL - Sheff Utd 0-1 Evertonpublished at 21:36 Greenwich Mean Time 26 December 2020

    Gylfi Sigurdsson (80 mins)

    More heartbreak for Sheffield United!

It's intricate stuff from Everton as they take full advantage of a poor clearance, Bernard cushioning the ball down to Abdoulaye Doucoure inside the box and the midfielder duly then lays it off to Gylfi Sigurdsson, who drives home.

Sheffield United have 10 minutes to find two goals or else face their winless run continuing.

  10. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 21:35 Greenwich Mean Time 26 December 2020

    Man City 2-0 Newcastle

Sergio Aguero is on to get some more minutes in his legs, coming on for Ferran Torres. He's got just over 10 minutes to see if he can mark his cameo appearance with a goal.

  11. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 21:34 Greenwich Mean Time 26 December 2020

    Sheff Utd 0-0 Everton

It has been a quiet game for Rhian Brewster and he is replaced by Lys Mouset as Sheffield United try to find that missing bit of bite in attack.

    Twelve minutes to go.

  12. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 21:31 Greenwich Mean Time 26 December 2020

    Man City 2-0 Newcastle

Joelinton's work is done. Well I say work, he's only had the one shot but it was never going to be a game that he was going to be particularly busy in.

Andy Carroll is on in the striker's place.

  13. Postpublished at 21:29 Greenwich Mean Time 26 December 2020

    Sheff Utd 0-0 Everton

Unconvincing stuff from Aaron Ramsdale as he spills a Seamus Coleman cross at his near post. He's able to gather at the second attempt but those little fumbles must make his defence nervous in such a finely poised game.

  14. Postpublished at 21:26 Greenwich Mean Time 26 December 2020

    Sheff Utd 0-0 Everton

Sniff of a chance for Sheffield United as John Egan heads over from a corner.

Neither side has managed a shot on target in this half.

  15. Postpublished at 21:25 Greenwich Mean Time 26 December 2020

    Man City 2-0 Newcastle

Jamal Lewis replaces Matt Ritchie with just over 20 minutes to go.

Manchester City are up to fifth as things stand and could even go fourth if Everton lose to Sheffield United.

  16. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 21:21 Greenwich Mean Time 26 December 2020

    Sheff Utd 0-0 Everton

Chris Wilder is only dealing with Olivers at the moment. He's already brought on Oli McBurnie for Oliver Burke and now sends on Oliver Norwood for David McGoldrick.

Everton also make a change but this one is Oliver free as Seamus Coleman replaces Michael Keane.

  17. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 21:18 Greenwich Mean Time 26 December 2020

    Man City 2-0 Newcastle

Manchester City are playing with more freedom now they have that second goal and are putting the Newcastle defence under constant pressure as Bernardo Silva hits the post after Raheem Sterling somehow failed to score from a great position.

Fernandinho is on for the hosts, replacing Rodri.

Matt Price: any Newcastle manager under Ashley is not going to be properly backed. But the real issue for many is that Rafa would have succeeded if he'd not been given a pittance of a budget, whilst Bruce has led the team backwards despite being given all the money in the world

Chris Judge: Big difference between this Premiership season and the last three. There is no utter domination by just one or two teams (City, City/Liverpool, Liverpool) and the rest

Ben: I'm still not saying "Lampard Out." Nope, not gonna do it.

  19. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 21:16 Greenwich Mean Time 26 December 2020

    Sheff Utd 0-0 Everton

Sheffield United want a penalty as Oli McBurnie goes down inside the area but nothing is given. Fair, McBurnie did look to go down far too easily there.

Everton have also made their first change of the game with Anthony Gordon making way for Bernard.

  20. goal

GOAL - Man City 2-0 Newcastlepublished at 21:13 Greenwich Mean Time 26 December 2020

    Ferran Torres (55 mins)

    Manchester City have their second!

Joao Cancelo's cross is diverted into Ferran Torres' path by Federico Fernandez and the forward makes no mistake from the middle of the box.
