  1. Can Brighton end 2020 on a high?published at 14:03 Greenwich Mean Time 27 December 2020

West Ham v Brighton (14:15 GMT)

Brighton remain just a point above the relegation zone going into today's match. That's not where they want to be.

They could only muster draws against Fulham and Sheffield United in their last two games - both sides are in the drop zone - so they really need to start pulling away.

A win here in London today against a West Ham side who have had a strong first half of the season, would be a huge boost.

  2. 'We had the character to fight'published at 14:02 Greenwich Mean Time 27 December 2020

    FT: Leeds 1-0 Burnley

    Leeds United

Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa on Sky Sports: "It was very difficult. Burnley could have drawn the game in the second half, they were two different halves. In the first we were able to impose our game, in the second, especially in the last part, it was difficult for us to neutralise their strengths.

"The first half went according to how we want to play. In the second we couldn't avoid playing the way Burnley wanted to play. If they had drawn, it wouldn't have been unjust. But I value the effort we put in to avoid them drawing.

"I sincerely feel there has been an evolution in the way we defend set-pieces. It was a necessity for us, I express it as a big effort we put in because in the second half when we couldn't impose ourselves and Burnley dominated for a large period, we had the character to fight."

  3. 'I like to see the game'published at 14:00 Greenwich Mean Time 27 December 2020

    FT: Leeds 1-0 Burnley

    Leeds United

Kalvin Phillips, who played in central defence, speaking to Match of the Day: "Last week was disappointing, but we came out, thought the first half we played well. They play direct and I think we did well to keep a clean sheet.

"I get a lot of the ball, I am a defensive midfielder, I like to see the game in front of me. I enjoyed it but like to play my normal role as much as possible."

  4. Looking good so farpublished at 13:59 Greenwich Mean Time 27 December 2020

West Ham v Brighton (14:15 GMT)

West Ham can't climb any higher in the table today. They start in 10th place with six wins and three draws from their opening 14 games.

That's a pretty decent season under David Moyes so far but they will be keen to shake off the 3-0 defeat they suffered against Chelsea on Monday.

Moyes' side weren't poor in that match, just not clinical enough. So will they have enough today to get the better of a Brighton side who have conceded 22 goals this season?

  5. 'Felt like a cup tie'published at 13:57 Greenwich Mean Time 27 December 2020

    FT: Leeds 1-0 Burnley

    Leon Osman
Former Everton midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

The game felt like a cup tie right from the first whistle with the intensity.

At the end the Leeds players were celebrating winning the three points and Burnley's players fell to the floor and they felt they should've got something.

They will be very disappointed with the decisions from the referee with the penalty and their disallowed goal.

  6. Bamford eyeing Golden Boot...published at 13:56 Greenwich Mean Time 27 December 2020

    FT: Leeds 1-0 Burnley

    Leeds United

Leeds goalscorer Patrick Bamford on Sky Sports: "We had to turn them a bit, they closed the gaps in between the lines well. We knew if I made the runs in behind there would be space there, fortunately it worked.

"I practice penalties all the time. I took them last year until I missed. It's a good achievement (10 goals) but I don't stop now and it keeps me in touch with the top."

  7. Fun on the road and goalspublished at 13:54 Greenwich Mean Time 27 December 2020

West Ham v Brighton (14:15 GMT)

While these two teams like to throw up a draw (three in their last three), the last two meetings at West Ham have produced 10 goals.

It's a favourite hunting ground of Brighton's. They have scored eight Premier League goals at the London Stadium, their highest number of goals at an away ground.

West Ham failed to record a single shot on target at Chelsea on Monday but victory here today would give them their highest points tally after 15 fixtures of a Premier League campaign since 2014-15.

Brighton have won just one of their last 12 league games (D6, L5) but their two victories this season have both come away from home.

Not a hugely convincing punch from Illan Meslier but he has managed to deal with everything Burnley have sent into the Leeds box so far today.

Smart footwork from James Tarkowski, cutting in field before feeding Ashley Barnes.
