    Leeds 1-0 Burnley

    And that's the break.

Sean Dyche will feel aggrieved about the decision that saw Ashley Barnes' effort ruled out.

It looked more like a foul by Leeds goalkeeper Illan Meslier on Ben Mee than the other way round.

But it's Patrick Bamford's penalty that is the difference at half-time.

    Leeds 1-0 Burnley

It's turned a bit scrappy as we edge towards half-time, but Patrick Bamford gets his foot on the ball, pops it inside to Rodrigo and he works it left for Jack Harrsion.

Rodrigo continues his run into the box and meets Harrison's delivery unmarked, only to head well over the crossbar. Big chance.

Raphinha has been good for Leeds. He's causing problems on the right and hits an effort first time with his left foot when it drops into his path on the edge of the box.

It never really troubles Nick Pope, who is down quickly to smother.

  4. 'Burnley look a threat'published at 12:39 Greenwich Mean Time 27 December 2020

    Leon Osman
Former Everton midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

When there's a cross that comes into the penalty area, Burnley look a threat with Wood and Barnes.

Leeds have to stop Burnley having the ball in wide areas.

    Leeds 1-0 Burnley

Oooh. Josh Brownhill manages to bundle his way through a couple of tackles inside the Leeds box and is readying himself to shoot before Kalvin Phillips nips in.

Ashley Westwood's corner drops right on Illan Meslier but this time the Leeds stopper deals with it.

  6. Postpublished at 37 mins

    Leeds 1-0 Burnley

Another set-piece for Marcelo Bielsa's side to defend.

It runs all the way through to Charlie Taylor, who whips the ball back into the box and Erik Pieters turns it wide with his left foot at the far post.

  7. 'Wood should score'published at 12:35 Greenwich Mean Time 27 December 2020

    Leeds 1-0 Burnley

    Leon Osman
Former Everton midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

It's not the prettiest football but it's effective and exciting to watch. Burnley are certainly still in this game.

Wood and Barnes are winning most of the first balls.

Wood should then score, he rises so high above Ayling, it was simple from Burnley but Wood couldn't keep his header down.

  8. Postpublished at 34 mins

    Leeds 1-0 Burnley

Chris Wood sneaks in at the other end with a header but Luke Ayling does well to put the former Leeds striker off.

There are openings for Burnley when they go forward.

  9. GREAT SAVE!published at 33 mins

    Leeds 1-0 Burnley

Leeds are queuing up to score, but Nick Pope makes a superb save with his foot to keep them out.

The Burnley defence just seemed to part again as Raphinha wriggled down the right and picked out Jack Harrison, but Pope was alert. Harrison probably should have scored.

Lesley Keech: As a Leeds fan, I can say Burnley were robbed there. Goalie came out to the player, not the other way around, it should have been called a foul against Meslier. Goal should have stood.

MJC1973: I'm not a Burnley fan but the ref has seriously let them down twice so far. It was not a penalty and how was that a foul on keeper? If anything it was the other way. Not seen this ref before but he has made two howlers already.

Jon Evans: Awful from the ref disallowing that goal. If anything it was a foul on Mee with a knee in his back. I thought the refs were meant to wait before blowing up in that situation? Meant VAR couldn't intervene. Ref standards have plummeted since VAR was introduced.

Mateusz Klich should've asked for shooting boots for Christmas. He's had two efforts from outside the box and both have been way off target.

  12. YELLOW CARDpublished at 28 mins

Josh Brownhill clatters into Rodrigo and the Burnley midfielder finds himself in the book.

Theo HV: Goalkeeper runs out, clatters Burnley player and gets the decision. Barmy decision from the referee.

Graham Rowley: That was an absolutely shocking decision from the referee.

James Lockwood: Burnley really hard done by with that foul on the Leeds keeper, never a foul and the goal should have stood, goalies are way too protected.

  14. Postpublished at 26 mins

    Leeds 1-0 Burnley

Nice football from Leeds, working it between the lines and then wide to Jack Harrison and Ben Mee just gets his toe to a low cross to stop it reaching Patrick Bamford.

  15. Postpublished at 24 mins

    Leeds 1-0 Burnley

Not sure that was what Leeds intended from the corner, smashing the ball against Burnley's Ashley Westwood, but it almost works for them and Nick Pope has to help a deflected cross behind.

The visitors deal with the next delivery. Been an entertaining opening 25 minutes or so at Elland Road.

  16. 'Dyche feels two big decisions have gone against him'published at 12:23 Greenwich Mean Time 27 December 2020

    Leeds 1-0 Burnley

    Leon Osman
Former Everton midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

The referee blew before the ball went into the goal and that's the biggest mistake he made.

The turn and finish from Ashley Barnes was incredible - a half volley on the swivel. If the referee had waited they could have reviewed it with VAR.

Sean Dyche feels two big decisions have gone against him and he seems very upset with the decisions and I think he is justified to be so.

  17. Postpublished at 22 mins

Patrick Bamford pinches the ball off Ben Mee on the right and drives into the box. Mee has Charlie Taylor to thank for making the recovery tackle as Leeds win a corner.

Ashley Barnes has the ball in the net! But there had already been a whistle from referee Robert Jones...

Illan Meslier comes out to collect a high ball into the box and almost jumps over Ben Mee, but it's the Leeds man who wins the free-kick before Barnes can spin and rifle it into the net.

Touch lucky? One of those the goalkeepers tend to get...

How about this, Bamford is also the first English player to score at least 10 goals in a Premier League season for Leeds since Robbie Fowler in 2001-02 (when he got 12).
