That was the chance!! HUGE moment.

Karlan Grant sneaks in behind the youngster Rhys Williams, substituted on for the injured Joel Matip, and he's through one-on-one with Alisson.

Liverpool's keeper is sharp and cool, making himself big to pull off the save and rescue Williams.

Khan Karn: Nothing against Rhys Williams who has potential but surely Nathaniel Phillips has done better. Also man of the match last time out. Don't understand why Klopp doesn't give him a chance.

Tera Baap Harami: Joel Matip being added to the catalogue of injured players. Surely Klopp will have to dabble into the transfer market to snap up some solid deputies?

Chris Baldwin: They have won once all season and are away to the best team in the league. What are West Brom supposed to do? Start with three strikers and have a go? They would get hammered. It’s totally reasonable to try to keep it tight and try to nick a draw

  8. Postpublished at 70 mins

    Liverpool 1-0 West Brom

Darnell Furlong wins a free-kick at the back post as Andy Robertson tries to get on the end of Jordan Henderson's whipped cross.

It's a good job too as Liverpool had numbers.

  9. Postpublished at 69 mins

    Liverpool 1-0 West Brom

Now it's a game of football as opposed to being attack versus defence.

The reason is West Brom have a player up front now so when they get the ball they can clear it.

If a manager doesn't believe in you and there's nobody up front it's soul-destroying but if you have someone up there and you're giving it a bit of a go you have a spring in your step and a bit of belief in your heart that you can do it.

  14. YELLOW CARDpublished at 62 mins

    Liverpool 1-0 West Brom

Nice. Jordan Henderson chips it through to Roberto Firmino. He backheels it to Mohamed Salah, who plays it sharply back to Henderson.

Trent Alexander-Arnold's cross is then cleared and when Rhys Williams wins the 50-50 challenge near the right touchline and is penalised, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp loses his cool. He's into the book!

  15. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 59 mins

    Liverpool 1-0 West Brom

Here comes young Rhys Williams. Joel Matip is off. He gets a warm applause from the Liverpool fans in the Kop but it's more frustration for the centre-back.

Simon Hutchins: No, I don't think Pat's a fan, but he's spot on, this is a damage limitation exercise today. They couldn't afford a heavy defeat today. West Brom don't have the players that Aston Villa have to try & win the game. It's three from five to go down & they have a chance.

Duncan: So parking the bus and playing 12 men behind the ball and only allowing Liverpool to have one shot on target is called having a great tactical mastermind. No it's boring, negative and not great for viewing.

  18. Postpublished at 55 mins

    Liverpool 1-0 West Brom

Liverpool just need to make sure they don't drop off and give West Brom a way back in.

The Baggies are better this half. More shots on target too!

  19. Postpublished at 54 mins

    Liverpool 1-0 West Brom

Curtis Jones is a little too eager to win the ball in midfield and he fouls Conor Gallagher.

From the free-kick, West Brom play it left to Callum Robinson and his cross causes problems before the referee whistles for a foul in the box on a Liverpool player.

  20. Postpublished at 52 mins

    Liverpool 1-0 West Brom

Better. Karlan Grant receives the ball on the edge of the box and he does well to get a shot away.

It's straight at Alisson but West Brom have at least started to play a little.
