It promises to be an emotional night at Molineux as Wolves play Tottenham.

Striker Raul Jimenez is present to watch his team-mates play for the first time since he fractured his skull at Arsenal.

The Mexican is watching on from one of the private boxes in the stadium.

Fantastic that he is fit enough to be here.

Wolves are just out of that table on 20 points so a win would keep them in touch. They've also got an interested spectator in tonight.

    Thanks Emma as ever!

So Liverpool drop unexpected points and the top of the table compresses like an accordion once again.

Spurs can now go third - and within four points of the summit - if they can find a win tonight.

    Everton face Manchester City tomorrow.

  5. 'Not the end of the world'published at 18:55 Greenwich Mean Time 27 December 2020

    FT: Liverpool 1-1 West Brom

    Liverpool

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, speaking to BBC Sport: "The frustration grew a bit through the game. I liked the first half, it was a proper challenge in the first half but we started lively. We played the simple passes and we did all the things that were necessary but in the second half after five minutes they had more situations than they did in the entire first half.

"It is not easy to play against a team like this and it is not easy to play like this. It is a challenge for West Brom, can they play like this for the rest of the season?

"Sam Allardyce is experienced and sets the team up like this and that is completely fine. It is not the first time we played against a deep block and usually we find the solutions for it.

"You have to use the chances when you have them but it is not the end of the world, it is a football game we wanted to win and should have won but now I have seen the full 95 minutes I feel they deserved a point."

  6. 'Organisation was the key'published at 18:52 Greenwich Mean Time 27 December 2020

    FT: Liverpool 1-1 West Brom

    West Bromwich Albion

West Brom manager Sam Allardyce to Sky Sports: "I think really good organisation was the key, in a team trying their best to nullify the best team in this league, on their own patch. What a fantastic job they did. We kept that tight ship all the way through. We went down a goal quite early but we stayed resilient and passed the ball better in the second half.

"I'm just glad we got a draw but every man served the spirit of the team, in terms of what we need to get ourselves out of this position. Goals are precious to us and this one has given us a point because we defended so well, and we took the opportunity when it came.

"We felt it was difficult in the first 20 minutes to even get an attack going but then we changed it with Karlan Grant as an out ball. At half time we needed to do more with keeping possession and we did well after the break.

"The lads have shown a lot of grit and determination and they have fought for each other. Matt Phillips was inspired by being captain today."

"We have to do the simple stuff well and we didn't. It is our fault and nobody elses. That is why it is a draw and not three points," says Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp.

  8. 'People will say we are lucky'published at 18:46 Greenwich Mean Time 27 December 2020

    FT: Liverpool 1-1 West Brom

    West Bromwich Albion

West Brom manager Sam Allardyce to BBC Sport: "It was superb today. There is a lot of defending you have to do against a quality team with a fantastic home record. To the man, we frustrated Liverpool as much as we could. We had to take the sting out of them in the first half. We changed it in the last 20 minutes to give Karlan Grant a bit of an out ball and that worked for us in the second half too. We had the goal from Semi Ajayi and the Karlan Grant one-on-one so two good opportunities to score. We came out with a precious point for us.

"Liverpool always take the game to you. I don't think Liverpool had many shots on target though. I didn't see Sam [Johnstone] in goal under enormous pressure so that shows how well we contained pressure. When they are firing balls into the box as well that can sometimes be more difficult. People will say we are lucky but that was good application from the players and they took their opportunity at the other end."

On Sam Johnstone's late save to deny Roberto Firmino: "It was an unbelievable save. To only make one save when we're here against top of the table and we're at the bottom shows how good we did our job. When the goallie was asked to come up with the save, and he's top class so did do.

"Crystal Palace, I had my full team and did my business in January. I have been here two minutes and this is my second game so this result almost feels like a win."

  9. 'We should have done better tonight'published at 18:43 Greenwich Mean Time 27 December 2020

    FT: Liverpool 1-1 West Brom

    Liverpool

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, speaking to Sky Sports: "I don't think anyone can expect a team plays like West Brom in the first half, like a 6-4 or whatever it was. I thought we did OK. Second half we didn't do the same again, they had like three counter attacks, too many corners. It is our fault and that is why it is only one point instead of three.

"It is an incredible challenge when you constantly face 10 men. To be fair West Brom did their job inside 90 minutes. West Brom deserved the point tonight because we didn't finish the game. It is difficult to create. In the end everyone knows and feels we should have and could have done better tonight.

"They played different against Villa, today what was clear it would be defensive and over set pieces. When it clicks in the game you cannot plan clicking you just have to work for it.

"We played around, crossed the ball and instead of moving we didn't switch. It is not a game we will talk about in 20 years but it is a game we have to play and we didn't play as we could."

  10. 'We only needed one chance'published at 18:40 Greenwich Mean Time 27 December 2020

    FT: Liverpool 1-1 West Brom

    West Bromwich Albion

West Brom midfielder Matt Phillips said: "We had a game plan and we stuck to it. They are the champions for a reason and they play some great football but we stayed in the game after going one down and Semi [Ajayi] popped up with a great header.

"When you come to the big sides you have to work hard first and foremost and we got our rewards. We frustrated them and we only needed one chance to get something from the game. It was a great header and i thought Semi's overall performance was excellent."

On Sam Allardyce's impact: "We are working hard under the manager and we are now looking for a bit of consistency. The manager has come in with fresh ideas and now we want to put points on the board."

  11. Nuno's fan lamentpublished at 18:39 Greenwich Mean Time 27 December 2020

    Wolves v Tottenham (19:15 GMT)

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport at Molineux

Tonight's match programme is a dual edition, for tonight and the Chelsea game which Wolves won 11 days ago.

Then, the world seemed a different place and Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo was talking about fans returning in larger numbers in his programme notes.

Since then, fewer clubs have been allowed them and with the Tiers due to be reviewed on 30 December, no-one is expecting more supporters to return in the short-term. Quite the opposite in fact.

Noel Fitzpatrick: Don't like the result, but can't argue with it. We didn't show enough urgency at 1-0 to make it two. The Baggies were the better team in the second half.

Ebrahim Sait: Taking nothing away from WBA, that was a poor Liverpool performance. TAA and Robertson are supposed to be the best crosses in football, they were below par today.

Thomas Wilson: Sam Johnston impresses me every time I watch him. Easily a top 10 gk for me. If West Brom don't stay in the division, he certainly will.

  14. 'We went slack in the second half'published at 18:34 Greenwich Mean Time 27 December 2020

    FT: Liverpool 1-1 West Brom

    Liverpool

Liverpool defender Andy Robertson speaking to Sky Sports: "When you go slack you get what you deserve. When you come up against a Sam Allardyce team you know they will stay in it and take the one chance they get.

"We created a lot of chances in the first half and then in the second half it was as if we didn't want to do it again. We went slack. Every one of us made a mistake in the second half which can't happen. Credit to West Brom for the way they played the second half.

"You know they will look to frustrate you and play the game down and hit you on the counter-attack. We didn't let them do that in the first half and then they grow with confidence the longer it goes 1-0. We should be experienced enough to see it out and build on the 1-0. We should have been 2-0, 3-0, maybe 4-0 up at half time. We were dominating and it was up to us to take the chances but we also should be professional enough to win 1-0 if we have to. We will take the point and move on. We can't dwell on it but it's a huge disappointment.

"I've been in a Championship team that has come up and you want to frustrate the big teams and get that one chance you can get and that's exactly what happened. Credit to them. They were great in the second half but we need to be so much more professional. We didn't do that enough and that is frustrating."

  15. 'To be honest I didn't have much to do'published at 18:31 Greenwich Mean Time 27 December 2020

    FT: Liverpool 1-1 West Brom

    West Bromwich Albion

West Brom goalkeeper Sam Johnstone, speaking to Sky Sports: "It is difficult to come to places like this. We dug in deep, we ran for 94 minutes, it was tough at times but we got an equaliser and it is a great point away from home. It feels more like a win.

"We knew they would always have a lot of the ball. We didn't really get going in the first half, second half we ran a bit more. The boss just said to keep going as we were still in the game. Granty went through in 60 minutes but thankfully we got another chance.

"It was a great save, to be honest I didn't have that much to do in the game. It was close but thankfully I tipped it round the post.

"Everyone knows what the manager is like. He has come in and things change very quickly and the lads are reacting to it.

"It is new management, new things and we keep going and believe in ourselves."

    FT: Liverpool 1-1 West Brom

    Pat Nevin
Former Chelsea and Scotland winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

What a lift for Sam and his players. In the second half we kept expecting Liverpool to go up the gears and create lots of chances but it did not happen.

In the second half he said 'we can go for this'. If they had been too open in the first half they could've been a few goals down.

It was a 6-4-0 formation in the first half and it looked completely ridiculous. In the second half they changed it with one man up front and they kind of deserved it with the way they then played.

It was awful in the first half - Liverpool had 84% possession and West Brom didn't have anyone up front.
