Steve in Milan: Seems to be a theme here that only Rodgers is missing. Everyone picked Vardy as captain of their Fantasy team today as we all think he would score and win the game. Hope they lose now.

Steve has taken the news, er, well.

Corin Wright: Heavy rotation was expected for Leicester... the best fantasy managers do their research.

Kyle (14:38). The Leicester players had a game 50 hours ago. Do you not think they may be a bit tired after it. It is not about resting for the next game but rather they just cant physically play today.

Crystal Palace have an exciting front three of Wilfried Zaha, Christian Benteke and Eberechi Eze but the flip side of that is that they do seem to be more open at the other end than usual.

They have conceded a lot of goals over Christmas so I think, first and foremost, Eagles boss Roy Hodgson will look to keep things tight against Leicester.

I still think the Foxes will find a way through, though. We saw yet again against Manchester United on 26 December that it doesn't matter if Jamie Vardy hardly has a kick all game, one chance is all it takes.

    Prediction: 1-1

Crystal Palace v Leicester City (15:00 GMT)

Alan Shearer will be disappointed to see Jamie Vardy on the bench. He is one goal short of equalling the Premier League record for reaching double figures in away goals in the most different seasons (currently five by Tottenham's Harry Kane).

Kyle: Leicester don't play there next match till Sunday. That's 6 days they have before their next game. A Leicester win has them 2nd and a point behind Liverpool. What is Rodgers doing awful team selection. Go for it get the win keep pressure on Liverpool.

Darren [14:20], why would you play your free hit when in 2 game weeks time, you have a handful of teams playing?

  13. How the stats stack uppublished at 14:33 Greenwich Mean Time 28 December 2020

Crystal Palace v Leicester City (15:00 GMT)

There have been 27 goals scored in the last eight fixtures between these two clubs and Palace have gone 14 league games without a clean sheet.

They have lost six of their 11 home matches post-lockdown, winning twice and drawing three times, having taken just eight points from a possible 21 at Selhurst Park this season.

In contrast, Leicester's total of 28 points is their third-highest after 15 matches of a Premier League season.

Brendan Rodgers' side have recorded seven victories in eight games against sides currently in the bottom half of the table.

And Leicester have taken 18 points from seven away fixtures, the second-highest tally in the division.

Richard: Played Vardy as a triple captain. Vardy on the bench. OK.

JB2020: Can't wait to lose to Palace today. Completely agree that players need to be rested, but this side won't get a result.

  16. Early team newspublished at 14:26 Greenwich Mean Time 28 December 2020

Everton v Manchester City (20:00 GMT)

Everton have the same squad available from their win at Sheffield United, limiting the opportunity for rotation.

Richarlison is sidelined due to concussion protocols, while James Rodriguez, Allan, Lucas Digne and Fabian Delph are all unavailable.

Manchester City are expected to make several changes, although Gabriel Jesus and Kyle Walker are self-isolating after positive coronavirus tests.

Ilkay Gundogan will be assessed for a knock but Eric Garcia remains out.

  17. Outside the top halfpublished at 14:23 Greenwich Mean Time 28 December 2020

It's not been quite as rosy for Crystal Palace, who sit outside the top 10 having failed to gain consistency since the restart.

Since thumping relegation-battlers West Brom 5-1 at the beginning of the month, they have suffered a 7-0 hammering by Liverpool and a 3-0 defeat to Aston Villa.

A 1-1 draw against Tottenham showed promise though, but Palace have been fairly underwhelming at home so far.

A win today would see them close the gap on the top 10 and come within a point of West Ham.

Leicester are keeping up with the pack at the top of the table. Three tough fixtures coming into this match - against Manchester United, Tottenham and Everton - saw them pick up a respectable four points.

But they can move within a point of leaders Liverpool with victory here today (albeit having played a game extra). That would be a decent end to the year wouldn't it?
