  1. Postpublished at 21 mins

    Wolves 0-0 Aston Villa

Wolves win a couple of back-to-back corners, the first of which was the only real threat to Villa, with Silva rising highest to head an effort against his marker and over.

  2. Postpublished at 19 mins

    Wolves 0-0 Aston Villa

Nah, that's not a penalty. I mean, I guess VAR can (and has) decided such incidents are worthy of a spot-kick. But it's not.

  3. Postpublished at 18 mins

    Wolves 0-0 Aston Villa

Huge shouts for handball as the initially half-cleared free-kick is fired back into the box. I'll need to see that again to decide if Romain Saiss did handle. VAR doesn't think it was a penalty, though.

  4. Postpublished at 17 mins

    Wolves 0-0 Aston Villa

Jack Grealish's first tumble to the turf comes from a challenge with Adama Traore. To be honest, it looked like he just bounced off the big man. It's a dangerous free-kick, though, on the left side of the box.

  5. YELLOW CARDpublished at 14 mins

    Wolves 0-0 Aston Villa

There is a little bit of spice in this. Douglas Luiz is shown a yellow card for halting Fabio Silva's attempts to get a Wolves attack going.

  6. Postpublished at 13 mins

    Wolves 0-0 Aston Villa

Daniel Podence is in acres of space in the box to almost receive Pedro Neto's low cross into the box. The reason he is, though, is that he fouled his marker Matty Cash in the build-up to the move. Emi Martinez saves at his feet anyway, but it wouldn't have counted even if Podence had scored.

  7. Postpublished at 11 mins

    Wolves 0-0 Aston Villa

Fabio Silva is in the hunt. A nice curling cross from the left almost beats the covering Villa defender to find Wolves' main striker, but the visiting player sticks out a leg to divert the ball away just in time.

  8. Postpublished at 10 mins

    Wolves 0-0 Aston Villa

Villa probing away in the Wolves half. A cross is swung towards Ollie Watkins in the box but Coady is ahead of him and heads clear.

Were yet to se a keeper properly tested.

  9. Postpublished at 6 mins

    Wolves 0-0 Aston Villa

It's another of those games where you really wish there were fans in attendance, getting a bit feisty, driving their teams on. A Joao Moutinho foul on Douglas Luiz would probably have sparked some ire.

Villa's first corner sees a decent delivery but a flicked header from a Wolves head sees off the initial danger.

An early delivery into the box by the home side earns them a first corner. They take it short and then swing another ball in that Conor Coady tries to get on the end of but fouls his man in the process.

  12. Wolves fans fun Jimenez bannerpublished at 12:31 Greenwich Mean Time 12 December 2020

Today we get first sight of a giant banner in support of injured Wolves striker Raul Jimenez, which has been installed at the club's Molineux stadium.

The banner, which measures 45m x 11m (148ft x 36ft), was funded by an online appeal set up by fans after the Mexican forward fractured his skull playing against Arsenal last month.

Jimenez, 29, spent nearly a week in a London hospital following emergency surgery, and is now back home in Wolverhampton recovering.

Supporters raised £21,000, with the £7,500 needed to pay for the banner coming within two hours of the appeal launch. The rest will go to a charity chosen by Jimenez.

Suffolk-based artist Louise Cobbold, who is well-known to Wolves fans for her match programme covers, won an online vote with her design for the banner, which has been installed in the Steve Bull Stand in time for Saturday's Premier League game between Wolves and Aston Villa.

  15. 'Silva wouldn't be in the line up if he was no good at finishing'published at 12:27 Greenwich Mean Time 12 December 2020

Wolves v Aston Villa (12:30 GMT)

    Jermaine Beckford
Ex-Leeds Utd striker on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra

No one can fill that Raul Jiminez gap but what Fabio Silva has got on his side is youth, he's excited now and he's got a point to prove. He's been thrown in with the big boys he's got Daniel Podence, Pedro Neto, Adama Traore who are going to create opportunities for him and he wouldn't be in this starting 11 if he was no good at finishing.

Naturally there's a lot of pressure that comes with playing up front in any Premier League side but I don't think he will be feeling all of that pressure that we're expecting him to be feeling.

  16. Doom and gloom?published at 12:26 Greenwich Mean Time 12 December 2020

Wolves v Aston Villa (12:30 GMT)

Things might not be quite as rosy at Villa as they were in the first month of the season, with Dean Smith's side having lost four of their past five league matches. However, they have won three of their four away matches in this season's Premier League, keeping a clean sheet in all three victories. And only Tottenham and Chelsea have kept more than Villa's four clean sheets in this season's top flight.

On top of that, Villa's tally of 20 goals is their highest after nine matches of a top-flight campaign since 1960-61.

  17. Wolves on top of latepublished at 12:24 Greenwich Mean Time 12 December 2020

Wolves v Aston Villa (12:30 GMT)

Wolves did the double over Aston Villa last season, winning 1-0 at Villa Park after a 2-1 victory at Molineux. However, they haven't won three league games in a row against Villa since a run of seven between 1957 and 1960.

They have, though, lost just one of the past six league meetings, winning three in a row at Molineux.

  18. Pogba focused on Man Utd?published at 12:23 Greenwich Mean Time 12 December 2020

What Man Utd probably didn't need on top of all this was more noise about Paul Pogba and how unsettled he is and how he wants to move and how he's not happy and blah, blah, blah. Honestly, it feels like this has been going on longer than... well... this awful year.

To get you up to speed, Mino Raiola said this week that his client Pogba had no interest in signing an extension to his contract, which ends in June 2022.

He added it would be better for all parties if Pogba left in January.

However, the latest is that Solskjaer insists that Pogba is focused on doing well for Manchester United despite his agent's comments.

"Paul's got the hunger and appetite to play. He wants to train and he's focused on performing when he gets a chance," said Solskjaer.

"There's been other players refusing to train and refusing to play - they're not here any more, of course - but Paul's not once done that."

  19. Don't panic! Don't panic!published at 12:21 Greenwich Mean Time 12 December 2020

Solskjaer says Manchester United will not "press the panic button" just because they were knocked out of the Champions League.

The 3-2 defeat at RB Leipzig on Tuesday extended United's poor recent record in the competition.

It also brought more questions about Solskjaer's ability to get the best from his squad.

United sources have continued to insist the club is fully behind their manager and the forward trajectory is solid.

But it is not a message that has gone down well with some fans, who feel a change is required.

"It is important not to press the panic button every time because in football you cannot win every single game," he said.

"There are games you lose that hurt more than others and some losses have more consequence than others.

"We have handled setbacks quite well and the reality is we are out of the Champions League for the rest of the season. We have to move on and get back into it."

Pretty big Manchester derby then today, eh?

  20. Down and outpublished at 12:14 Greenwich Mean Time 12 December 2020

Speaking of having a rough week - Manchester United, ladies and gentlemen.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side went from being a Tuesday/Wednesday team to a Thursday team courtesy of their elimination from the Champions League, RB Leipzig striking the final blow on Tuesday.

Needing just a draw to progress to the last 16, Solskjaer's side conceded twice inside 13 minutes to leave their hopes in tatters before RB Leipzig added what ultimately turned out to be the killer third with 20 minutes left.

They staged a late rally (as usual) but it wasn't enough.
