Everton are already under a lot of pressure early in this half.

Jordan Pickford comes way off his line to punch away a Thiago Silva ball into the box but Mason Mount is soon onto the ball with Pickford stranded but the midfielder lofts his shot onto the top of the bar.

Ben: Frank Lampard is making a mockery of his best in form plays policy by starting Havertz every game.

Everton have won their last six Premier League games when ahead at half time, last failing to do so in January (2-2 v Newcastle).

That doesn't bode well for Chelsea, but the Blues have only lost once this season and that was way back at the end of September. Still plenty of time for them to turn things around.

BigdaddyTerry: If we cannot score don't concede again. Regroup in second half and come out smoking. Kai Havertz has not really been the player we all thought he would be. £70m should be firing from all cylinders. Big second half is expected.

Manchester United

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer tells BBC Sport: "It is a fair result, they had some big moments, David de Gea has made a great save, Harry Maguire had a couple of blocks that could have gone worst for us. We had three headers from corners and Marcus Rashford was a foot offside when we should have had a penalty.

"Clean sheet is always a foundation to build from, the possession we had more so than before against City. Last season we won three games against them but it was mostly down to counter attacking football and last ditch defending, lucky moments too. This season is the most control we have had against them.

"I just look at improvement in our team, we have improved, better off in points (than last season) and some performances have been miles better. We know the reasons why we have not started well, the lack of pre-season we have had. that is no cause for panic. I was disappointed with the results early on in the season but we are getting there.The players are focused and driven to do better than last season.

"Paul Pogba has expressed his talent, did well, worked hard and I am very happy with his contribution.

"I think we all agree it is different, home, away, derby or not. I could have met Pep Guardiola tomorrow in the training ground and played them again. We lack the support and I cannot wait for them to get back.

"This is not a home game, it is a game, almost like neutral ground and that is how it has been this season. I have not looked at the nine straight away wins as away wins, I have looked at them as wins."

Tony K: Can a referee be subbed at half-time? Jonathan Moss has been woeful.

Peter Edge: Looking forward to seeing those having a go at Harry Kane for standing his ground criticising Mason Mount for pushing Yerry Mina into Jordan Pickford on purpose.

Andrew Mitchell: That was naughty from Mason Mount. Nothing to do with the ball, just a two handed push of another player into a goalkeeper who is off the ground.

Half time and Everton will have been glad to have heard the whistle with Chelsea knocking on the door towards the end of the half.

You get the feeling one goal is not going to be enough for the Toffees if they want to take all three points.

Another ball is just an inch or two high for Olivier Giroud, this time from Reece James' delivery as Chelsea attack again before the break.

Chelsea keep up the pressure as Mason Mount lifts a ball into the box. He's looking for Olivier Giroud at the far post but the ball sails just over the striker's head.

Lewis Keeffe: Chelsea are on the verge of top of the table, qualified comfortably for the last 16 of champions League and being 1-0 down warrants "catastrophe". They are the sleeping giant of the Premier League with a good amount of money to invest. Think about it.

Everton get away with it.

Everton have had few attacking opportunities since taking the lead but they counter as a Chelsea attack breaks down with Richarlison sent away down the left. The striker charges towards the box but slips as he shoots and his effort is straight at Edouard Mendy.

Mateo Kovacic whips a dangerous ball into the box for Timo Werner but Mason Holgate just gets there first and hits his clearance against the Chelsea striker and behind for an Everton goal kick.

Ouch. Jordan Pickford slips as he positions himself to clear a ball. He gets up quickly and does clear but stretches awkwardly as he does so and now he looks in pain.

He signals he is OK to continue but is walking a little gingerly and taking any opportunity he can to do some stretches.

Yerry Mina is down on the ground, clutching his foot and looks in real discomfort. Not sure what happened there but it is not long before he is back up and running OK.

Arjun Singh: People need to cut Kai Havertz some slack. Yes, he cost a lot - but the kid’s 21 years old! He may not be his best for another season or so yet.
