Both defences have done well so far.

And that is good news for them because both have been susceptible this season.

  2. CLOSE!published at 43 mins

    Man Utd 0-0 Man City

United cut City open, Paul Pogba involved in the final third again feeding Mason Greenwood.

The youngster shifts it onto his left peg but a low shot is blocked brilliantly by a sprawling Ruben Dias.

  3. CLOSE!published at 40 mins

    Man Utd 0-0 Man City

    Almost, almost!

Bruno Fernandes' delivery is flicked on at the near post by Victor Lindelof but it sails narrowly over the angle of the far post.

United have spotted a City weakness here on set-pieces.

    Man Utd 0-0 Man City

United win their fourth corner of the half, they need to make one count. Will this be the time?

    Wasted.

Paul Pogba slips a good pass through to Aaron Wan-Bissaka down the right edge of the area, but the United full-back drills his cross straight out of play.

Didn't give any of his team-mates a chance.

RegularJon: City look there for the taking, almost. Compared to recent seasons. But United are just as slow and cautious on the ball. End to end please!

Ash Williams: Probably good that no fans can go to Old Trafford. This game has been dire

Michael Reid: Its crazy that this is deemed as 'professional' and 'entertaining'. I can't help but think I'd be distraught spending £60 a ticket to watch a 90 minute game going 0-0. I think a good old grassroots 14-9 game with 3 red cards is underrated.

Victor Lindelof leaves one on Raheem Sterling on the halfway line.

No bookings for anyone so far.

  8. CLOSE!published at 35 mins

    Man Utd 0-0 Man City

The best opening of the game so far.

City break with pace when United were threatening, Gabriel Jesus leading the charge.

He pops it off to Kevin de Bruyne, who lays it off first time for Riyad Mahrez, free down the right in front of the Stretford End.

Mahrez sets himself from 10 yards out but strikes a low shot straight at David de Gea and the Kevin de Bruyne blasts the rebound over.

Oh forgot Fred was still on, looks like he has run that injury off.

The United midfielder does well to shield the ball in his own half and earns his side a pressure-relieving free-kick.

All a bit cat-and-mouse here. Code for not particularly entertaining. Neither side, understandably, do not want to get caught out so caution is currently the watchword.

Few glimpses at both ends but hardly free-flowing.

Is that Alex Telles in a Luke Shaw shirt?

Another brilliant corner whipped in, Harry Maguire heads to meet it but cannot get it on target.

  12. CLOSE!published at 30 mins

    Man Utd 0-0 Man City

Ederson nearly at fault again at Old Trafford.

The City goalkeeper gives the ball away under no pressure and Marcus Rashford picks out Paul Pogba in the box, but the Frenchman's carefully-placed attempt deflects over.

Theo HV: Way too safe this from City... no intensity at all. Slow football never cuts it

Sterling and Mahrez are both out of form. I don't understand why Pep isn't playing Foden and Torres to add a bit of urgency to this team.

Chances are coming City's way now.

Riyad Mahrez shapes the free-kick into the box, John Stones flings himself to attack the ball but it loops into the hands of United goalkeeper David de Gea.

    GOOD refereeing from Chris Kavanagh.

It was a naughty one from Scott McTominay on Rodri, but the man in black only wants a word.

He will get a booking next time.

Mike Dean might want to take note.

  16. CLOSE!published at 26 mins

    Man Utd 0-0 Man City

    Ohhhh, City should be ahead!

Riyad Mahrez looks up and pops a ball over the top of the United defence.

Gabriel Jesus is second best in the race to reach it, but somehow outmuscles Aaron Wan-Bissaka and scoops a shot from six yards out over the bar.

David de Gea was caught in no-mans land there.

It's as if Pep has lost confidence in himself and has passed it on to his team. Everything is so much more cautious than it used to be.

Boring game. Two teams scared to lose. Who'd have thought it of United and Citeh?

Free-kick is 25 yards out, to the left. It suits a right-footer.

Bruno Fernandes scuffs it and it loops up off the wall and away for a corner.

Fernandes throws his arms up in frustration.

Paul Pogba has looked in the mood today and wins a free-kick on the edge of the area after being tripped by Rodri.

Now then, can United make it count?
