  2. 'They were a little bit too good for us'published at 21:59 Greenwich Mean Time 13 December 2020

    Leicester 3-0 Brighton

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton boss Graham Potter, speaking to Amazon: "Disappointing. The box is where it matters and Leicester were better than us.

"We stuck at it in the second half but clearly over the course of the 90 minutes not good enough to get something from the game.

"In the end they were a little bit too good for us and sometimes that happens.

"That is our 12th game, we are quite early on in the season so we have a lot of time but we know we are fighting to improve, fighting for points. We are going to keep humble and keep going."

  3. 'We could have managed the game better'published at 21:57 Greenwich Mean Time 13 December 2020

    Arsenal 0-1 Burnley

    Burnley

Burnley boss Sean Dyche, speaking to BBC Sport: "It is tough coming here. There is a lot of noise around them but they still have some very good players.

"Arsenal just got their feel in the game until the sending off, they responded well to that and had a couple of chances but then we calmed the game down and got ourselves the winner.

"In the modern game, it is so soft now the modern game, it has to be given. I am amazed the second was not a sending off, you can't just push someone in the face.

"I still felt we could have managed the game better towards the end but we are building out of a tough start so I am not going to question them on that too much.

"As the group has got stronger physically with players coming back from injury and getting fully fit we are beginning to get to the right levels."

  4. 'Still lots to improve'published at 21:55 Greenwich Mean Time 13 December 2020

    Leicester 3-0 Brighton

    Leicester City

Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers to Amazon: "We knew this would be a real test. I enjoyed the game from a technical perspective. Graham Potter sets his teams up well. We were surprised and had to change after 20 minutes.

"With a bit more quality we could have scored one or two more. But overall we're delighted with the performance and the result.

"Still lots to improve. We've got a lot of young players playing. They're a joy to work with. The table starts to take shape.

"Jamie Vardy is a wonderful player. He reminds me of Luis Suarez, how he gives the team such a lift - such a catalyst. He doesn't need many touches. He trains every day. He looks after his body. He's super professional."

  5. 'It puts us in a difficult position'published at 21:51 Greenwich Mean Time 13 December 2020

    Arsenal 0-1 Burnley

    Arsenal

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta to BBC Sport: "We threw it away, we were in control of the game. When you give the red card away the game changes. I don't know what it is we have to do to score a goal.

Red card unacceptable? "Yes. In my opinion it is too much willingness to do well, to compete to do everything. We took it to the wrong side of it, when you step over the line you will get punished.

Where does that leave you? "In a worse position. When you have this type of performance you have to win matches, you have to win as simple as that. I puts us in a difficult position and we ave to try again on Wednesday.

"I am clear in my mind what needs to improve. I don't know how to put the ball into the net."

  6. 'Arsenal should have been down to nine'published at 21:46 Greenwich Mean Time 13 December 2020

    FT: Arsenal 0-1 Burnley

    Burnley

Burnley boss Sean Dyche, speaking to Sky Sports: "It is pleasing, we had to fight and work for everything. They had a good reaction with 10 men, they raised themselves for 10-15 minutes and we got through that and got ourselves the goal."

Should Arsenal have been down to nine men? "I think so. I don't like seeing players get sent off, I think there is enough nonsense in the game but you can't push someone in the face, I'm amazed VAR didn't give it.

"I think the win gives us more belief. The fitness is getting better, the Premier League sharpness, the win adds to the belief but the next game comes around quickly.

"People have been reminding me that we never beat Arsenal, so that's another one down."

  7. 'Red card was unacceptable'published at 21:43 Greenwich Mean Time 13 December 2020

    FT: Arsenal 0-1 Burnley

    Arsenal

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live: "Complete dominance from the start to the moment that Granit Xhaka was sent off. Created all the chances, pressing, the attitude of the players was amazing the way we played in moments it was really good. They are really willing and probably too willing in key moments we over stepped the line and got a man sent off.

"By too willing I mean that they are incredibly committed to what they are trying to do, they are trying their best. The energy that they play with and we took it into the wrong place because in that moment they were left exposed."

On sending off: "We know that these things are unacceptable and the moment that we are in now it’s even more so.

    "Haven’t seen Mohamed Elneny footage."

On what's missing for Arsenal: "We need to put the ball in the net that’s what is missing – what we did and what Burnley did there is no comparison.

    "Haven't spoken to Aubameyang yet."

  8. Boos were 'deserved'published at 21:40 Greenwich Mean Time 13 December 2020

    Arsenal 0-1 Burnley

Arsenal full-back Kieran Tierney, speaking to Sky Sports: "We are not showing the manager what we can do and how much we believe in him. Every game there are signs we are doing a bit better but it is still not good enough. At half time we need to be going in in the lead but we are not doing that.

"It is hard to say the red card cost us the game. It was always going to be a lot tougher.

"Hard work is the only thing [that can fix this], nothing else for it. There are no excuses. There is nothing I can say that will make people believe a positive thing is going to come out of this.

"We are lucky we have a great manager. We just need to show better on the pitch."

On boos at full time: "It was deserved. They are coming out here and supporting us."

  9. 'We threw the game away with the red card'published at 21:38 Greenwich Mean Time 13 December 2020

    Arsenal 0-1 Burnley

    Arsenal

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta, speaking to Sky Sports: "You saw the performance of the boys, how much they wanted it, the chances we created and then we threw the game away with the red card.

"We had total control for 60-70 minutes and should have won it earlier."

On sending off: "Same words [as when Pepe was sent off before]. In these conditions even worse. I think it is related into how much will and energy they put into the games but it is not an excuse. I am sure he will [say my fault].

"You go on Wednesday against Southampton at home and try to win the game. We have to score a goal, we have to put the ball in the net.

"We were on top from the beginning to the moment of the sending off. We are not winning football matches and I am here to provide wins. Everyday work on it."

  10. Postpublished at 21:30 Greenwich Mean Time 13 December 2020

Brighton defender Lewis Dunk to Amazon: “We had good periods in the first half. We created chances and didn’t take them.

“We stuck in there and had a go. Thankfully we have a game on Wednesday to bounce back. We just weren’t good enough.

“We’re a good team. Every game is big. Any team can beat anyone.”

  11. 'We wanted a good start'published at 21:21 Greenwich Mean Time 13 December 2020

    Leicester 3-0 Brighton

    Leicester City

Leicester's James Maddison, speaking to Amazon: "That was really good, we wanted to have a good start.

"There have been a few games where we have not got off to a quick enough start and that is something we were looking to improve on."

Mr Thompson: You look at this Arsenal team and it’s really poor. If you’re Liverpool, City, Spurs or Chelsea, who would you take from that team??

Martin Ward: How can they keep Arteta when they sacked Emery with a much better record. Shambolic. Embarrassing

Aashish: Arsenal look like a Championship team at the minute

  13. 'Sending off changing moment'published at 21:18 Greenwich Mean Time 13 December 2020

    Arsenal 0-1 Burnley

    Burnley

Burnley goalkeeper Nick Pope: "Over the last few years we have come close when we have come here to beat them but this felt like the right night and we picked out opportunities. We have put together some good opportunities now.

"There were a couple that were close to me and I had covered. It was nice to get on the end of a few saves and the clean sheet is massive for us.

"Sometimes when a team goes down to 10 men it is difficult because the expectation changes. It was probably the changing moment of the game with the momentum and after that I think we calmed it down.

"No-one wants to look at the TV and see yourself below the dotted line so it is nice but there is a long way to go."

  14. 'Arsenal invited the pressure onto their goal'published at 21:13 Greenwich Mean Time 13 December 2020

    Arsenal 0-1 Burnley

    Lee Hendrie
Former Aston Villa midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

I feel arsenal did play well up to the time of the sending off, it did turn the game around and went into the favour of Burnley. The set plays they did - time and time again giving cheap free kicks away inviting the pressure onto the goal so it was evident what would happen and it did.

You feel for Arsenal, everything seems to be going against them the chances they had in front of goal it could've been two or three nil at times but it just shows how this Burnley side come out and frustrate sides and then all of a sudden they capitalised on whatever they were given.

I believe in Arteta. Problem for me is the same players, letting themselves and the club down over and over again across multiple seasons.

    Alex in London

Arsenal have Southampton, Everton and Chelsea next. On the 29th they face Brighton. That could genuinely be a relegation battle.

    Zac

Arsenal made a huge mistake giving a rookie manager his 1st job. Please let Arteta continue for a long time, its given us spurs fans a huge laugh after you mocked us for getting Mourinho, brilliant times.
