Great chance! And Olivier Giroud should really score.

Ben Chilwell's corner is a dreamy one, whipped in at pace, the Frenchman rises high to meet it but can't keep the header down and puts it over. He was only about four yards out and reacts with genuine anger.

Chelsea look dangerous down the left-hand side: Mount, Chiwell, Pulisic, they all look lively. Wolves have to be alert.

Kurt Zouma tries a shot from a good 35 yards and it's actually much better than I feared - blocked by Conor Coady and Wolves have to clear away for a corner.

Brilliant work from Christian Pulisic down the left-hand side. Just runs away from Willy Boly and then delivers a cross into the box but Timo Werner just can't get enough on it. Didn't look confident at all.

Olivier Giroud has scored five goals this month. Define 'lean period'.

Sulaimon: Chelsea lacking creativity in the middle with the midfield combination of Kante, Pulisic and Havertz.

Good to see Pulisic back, but would have Abraham ahead of Giroud who looks like he has started another lean period

That's what Christian Pulisic can do - sensational burst of pace takes him away from Willy Boly. His cross is a good one, Timo Werner can't quite meet it on the stretch and then Kai Havertz sees his effort charged down.

I saw a great stat about Thiago Silva...

When Chelsea lost at Everton, it was the first time he had been on the losing side in a league game since August 2019.

Wolves are approaching 250 minutes without a Premier League goal. I actually thought they played well against Villa but couldn't finish their chances and then gifted a late penalty.

Lovely from Olivier Giroud, there are few better at the one-touch lay-off to a team-mate. He finds Christian Pulisic but his testing cross is well defended.

Both sides looking really neat on the ball in these early stages.

    Wolves 0-0 Chelsea

Reece James floats in a very nice looking ball from the right and Rui Patricio comes out to claim with authority. Good keeping, though he does collide with Willy Boly which is top of the things I would not want to do on a freezing Wolverhampton evening.

A bone-shuddering challenge which both men do well to come away from unscathed.

Pedro Neto does well to get a cross in before Conor Coady shoots from a mile out and slams it wide. One goal for England and he thinks he's Daniel Agger.

    Wolves 0-0 Chelsea

Conor Coady starts a Wolves attack with a cracking fade pass out wide, Nelson Semedo plays a sharp one-two and lines up a left-footed swinger from 20 yards - it deflects away for a corner.

From the setplay Romain Saiss heads well over the bar. Good stuff from the hosts.

  15. Postpublished at 3 mins

    Wolves 0-0 Chelsea

Chelsea start the game with a prolonged spell of patient posession. N'Golo Kante really is in midfield all on his own with a galaxy of attacking options ahead of him. Mason Mount will look to drop in when needed.

Chelsea won 5-2 at Molineux last season. I wouldn't mind seven goals to keep us entertained this teatime.

It is a back three for Wolves, as we've grown to expect.

Here come the players after the very flash light show at Molineux. I'm old enough to remember a floodlight failing and it taking 45 minutes to come back on again.

    Wolves

Since their return to the Premier League in 2018, Wolves have lost 80% of their Premier League games where Raúl Jiménez hasn’t started (4/5), scoring 0.4 goals-per-game compared to 1.3 with the Mexican in the starting line-up.

Warm-ups over, the teams head back in for a last bit of direction and a snifter of brandy. Probably.
