Kevin de Bruyne finds the feet of Phil Foden, who swivels effortlessly on the edge of the West Brom penalty area but the ball just doesn't roll for him and he isn't allowed to capitalise.

The goal was coming. So much possession it was ridiculous! Raheem Sterling was patient, came on his left foot and just pulled it back for Ilkay Gündogan. His run was perfect and scores. It was going to come and it had to come - just too much possession.

Manchester City have just kept the ball and been patient this first half. To be fair to West Brom, what they are doing now is what they would've worked on all week - make sure you stay nice and compact.

Patience is the word for City at present.

Benjamin Mendy plays a short pass to Raheem Sterling, who springs into action - but Matt Phillips is quickly onto the danger and muscles Sterling away from the ball.

City earn another corner and Ruben Dias looks primed to meet it with his head.

There's maybe a lack of communication, as Rodri steals in and meets it first, heading over Sam Johnstone's crossbar.

And it will feel like much more to the West Brom players, doing so much chasing early on.

They're succeeding in making this difficult for the hosts, but how long can they keep up this great effort level?

West Brom manager Slaven Bilic is heavily invested in his team as always.

It won't be long before he is creeping onto the pitch.

The Baggies could do with someone of Bilic's ability at centre-half I think. This is going to be a long night for the visitors.

West Brom have the leakiest defence in the division so far, with 25 goals conceded in 12 games.

But this has been comfortable enough so far at the back - perhaps as comfortable as they could hope for at the Etihad.

Apart from Karlan Grant's great early chance they've not really threatened, though.
