Jurgen Klopp speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live: "Top game, top opponent, a super organised opponent. Slightly more defensive than we would've expected but it's because of how my boys played.

"It was a really, really good game from us. It's exactly the way you have to play. You have chances, you score the goal. Yes, that's normal. The counter-attacks were great. A pretty good game, I have to say."

On Roberto Firmino's goal: "I love talking about Bobby's goals but it always sounds like we are shocked! 'Ohh, Bobby scored!" It's not that rare that he scores.

"He's a top-class player and he scores goals but he has some things to do for us which sometimes, keep him outside of the box for us. I couldn't be more pleased for him. And for us because it was a top goal and very important."

On Liverpool having 200 passes in the final third compared to Tottenham's 19: "If you ask me now, I can't remember the 19. That's how it is. But it's fine. Different approaches, different ways to play.

"It's the respect the boys deserve - or earned, that you think 'OK, sit deep against them like this.' We have to deal with that. Of course they had chances, they are a world class team, they are outstanding.

"They will be top of the table until the end of the season because they are really good. But to play against them is a proper challenge and to play like us, is pretty special."

On Jose Mourinho: "It was not heated at all. He wasn't happy because he told me the better team lost - and I thought he was joking! But he wasn't. So that's it."

On former manager Gerard Houllier: "Gerard Houllier would have loved this and I know he would've watched this because he watched all the games and used to send me messages after the games. I like tonight with the minute of applause announced, how happy the people looked when they did it because he was such a nice, warm person. You just think 'what a guy'."

Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson on the match and having to play with 10 men: "It's decision that is hard to accept. Two challenges in the air - honest challenges - and he's been sent off.

"It's a good point before the game. But the way the game panned out I'm disappointed we didn't get more.

"Up to the sending off we were looking dangerous going forward. I was pretty confident really.We had to deal with the fact they scored a wonder goal.

"I've always been believing that if Benteke gets a run he will rediscover his form which saw him sign for Liverpool for big money and then sign for us. We'll miss him in terms of the way we want to play and it's a personal blow because he won't be able to show Liverpool what they're missing."

West Ham United

West Ham manager David Moyes: "It was a pretty flat display by us tonight. Not the intensity or speed in the way we've played. But we've seen that sort of flat display in a lot of Premier League games.

"Lanzini gave us a bit more creativity. Not that we were lacking it but we couldn't break down Palace. We thought we would have the creativity to do it but we didn't."

On the Benteke red card: "I didn't think it was sending off. If you jump then there's the fear of clashing of heads or flailing arms. At half-time I would have snatched your hand off for a point. Even at 10 men I didn't think we played well enough for the win."

There is nothing more on-brand for David Moyes than to complain that his number nine has scored a sensational overhead kick instead of a tap-in.

West Ham United

West Ham manager David Moyes speaking to Amazon Prime: "For the first time I felt no atmosphere in the stadium. Even the 2,000 crowd made a big difference."

On Haller's spectacular goal: "I'd like him to score a tap in - I would be thrilled with that."

Where does that leave Mat Ryan?

Brighton boss Graham Potter, speaking about goalkeeper Robert Sanchez after he made a number of excellent saves: "I made the decision to go with Rob, he has some incredible attributes we wanted to use."

Will he keep his place? "He will. He earned his place on merit and how he has worked and I think his performance was good tonight.

"Jason Steele I feel plays the role of the number two really well, that is where we are.

"Adam Lallana was really good. We are being careful with him but he was a really positive influence."

Premier League Babble: Sour grapes from Mourinho as usual. I only saw one team playing and that was Liverpool, deserved winners.

Tottenham Hotspur

Jose Mourinho speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live: "We deserved to win. I have to be disappointed.

"Of course they had more of the ball but when we had it, we knew how to hurt them but we have to score - the second, third goal, we have to score it to kill the game.

"They had the ball but the game was under control. In matches like these where you don't have 10 chances, just three or four, you have to score three and kill it - which we didn't.

"The draw will probably be a fair result but to lose it is really, really unfair. But that's football.

"We have to score. Period. Especially in those moments as they were suffering every time we recovered the ball, they were in trouble. So, it was a moment to hurt, a moment to kill it and we didn't.

"In the end the destiny decided for them to win it. Also in a very strange way for me."

On Jurgen Klopp: "Everything is fine between us. The referees let him behave the way he does. It's not my problem. I feel sad for it because I can not do it but it's just the way it is."

Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson speaking to Amazon Prime: "A good result for us because we had to play 30 minutes with 10 men - I couldn't understand the sending off. That type of challenge will always happen in football. Another good performance from our side. They had few efforts on goal despite us playing with 10 men."

On Benteke's red card: "In football you're never sheltered from decisions. Things happen. Players make mistakes - they commit fouls. Referees make decisions that go against your team. It's part and parcel of football.

"We had the better chances in the game. It wasn't quite to be. I'm very satisfied with the performance.

"The negative moment is to lose Benteke for the next game. He will miss that chance to play against the team that sold him to us [Liverpool]."

Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton midfielder Adam Lallana: "First half we cancelled each other out a bit and it was stop start but in the second half I felt we came out and were brilliant.

"Danny Welbeck knew straight away, he said in the celebration he thought it hit his hand. So I sort of knew. It was accidental, he had his hands down by his side but it is what it is.

"I am more content and happier with this performance than the last two. We were more on the front foot in this one. We are not going to win every game but as long as we put in performances and create chances that is where we want to be."

Ex-Tottenham and England winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

It was all about timing for Tottenham. If you're not going to get a lot of chances, then you have to take the ones you do get when you come to a place like Anfield.

Liverpool are champions and they are the best team in England. Tottenham and Jose Mourinho have made big strides and Mourinho is trying to get Spurs up to that level. That would've been a great result if it was 1-1 but again, Liverpool have got a result at Anfield.

Tottenham have come a long way with Jose Mourinho. They have got a bit of steel about them, a lot of honesty. But with the ball, against the big teams, can they do a bit more? I think that's the next stage for Tottenham.

Dave Payn: The best team converted more of their chances. That's why Liverpool are where they are. If Spurs had gone for it they might well have won.

Ilyas Najib: It’s not often someone beats Jose at mind games but it looks like Klopp has the edge over the once special one.

Simon Olivari: I don’t understand the modern assumption that most possession means the better team. For 89 minutes Liverpool had scored one deflection and hardly missed a load of sitters otherwise, so I think Jose is right.

PGMOL statement: "In the 33rd minute of Liverpool vs. Spurs, Son Heung-min scored for Spurs, the goal was checked for a possible offside by VAR.

"The calibrated line was drawn from Liverpool defender Rhys William’s furthest point forward, his left foot, which showed that Son was behind him when the ball was played.

"As both players' feet were the furthest point forward and planted on the ground, the 3D crosshair lines were not required."

Tottenham Hotspur

Jose Mourinho speaking to Match of the Day: "We were playing to win, we were not playing to get a point. A point would have been quite a fair result but we played to win and had the biggest chances to win it. The moment of the occasions and the reaction they had, they were in trouble.

"The game was always under control. I feel it was a very undeserved result, but that's football. At half-time we move a little bit the pieces, but overall the game was always under control and I am very pleased with the performance.

"The changes were to find counter-attack situations which we did immediately, but with Gio's (Lo Celso) yellow card and the incredible pressure these guys on the touchline put on the officials, I was afraid of the yellow card and I had to take him off.

"I am not the one to speak to my colleagues about their behaviour on the touchline."
