  1. 'Clean sheet is massive for us'published at 22:10 Greenwich Mean Time 16 December 2020

    Fulham 0-0 Brighton

    Fulham

Fulham boss Scott Parker, speaking to Match of the Day: "I think the way the game panned out yes [the draw was fair]. I thought we looked a little jaded today and that was probably from the effort the players put in against Liverpool. We did have some massive chances but overall a point felt a fair result.

"Overall I think we understand that we will need to play better to win games in this division but in saying that we didn't lose so we move on.

"In large parts this season we have not given ourselves a platform and have been chasing games down. A clean sheet is massive for us. Overall a lot of positives but some negatives as well. I felt we lacked a bit of control today.

"This is a team that is moving in the right direction and I am seeing improvements in. We are taking small steps and that is very pleasing."

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp speaking to Match of the Day: "A good game against a counter-attacking monster, the possession we had we did incredibly well. Yes they have scored a goal, had two chances, apart from that we controlled the game and it is a massively deserved three points and I am happy.

"For me, it is offside [the Spurs goal]. They watch it 20 times, but when I saw it, it is offside. There is nobody to blame, the best way to defend Tottenham is to keep the ball all the time.

"It was just a really good game and I am so happy we scored that goal because it felt like 70% of the ball against a top side. Bobby (Firmino), what a header, I am over the moon for him. What a game he played, those movements, he opens up all the other gaps."

On his chat with Mourinho? "Nothing serious, he said it himself so I don't have to repeat it. No argument."

Imran: An excellent win for Liverpool tonight. Liverpool by far the better team and in Curtis Jones we have another outstanding young English player.

Rachel: No shame in losing to this Liverpool team, but Spurs could so easily have snatched that.

The team at the top right now deserve to be there. Spurs were woeful. Negative, dreary, hanging on for a draw, got nothing because they didn't really play football. Pochettino's Spurs were never like that.

Sebastien Haller on his reaction after he scored: "Finally. I was a bit unlucky last week [against Leeds] so to score a goal like that is always good. Special. Everyone thought it was possible to get a win today.

"If I was really close last season then there would be more goals. This season I've not played as much but I've scored more goals. I'm just happy today.

"When you go into the game and in this position in the table then you play with the mind free."

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho on Amazon: "So close to winning, yeah, not so close of a draw - so close of winning, but we missed the chances, we had the chances, had the game under control, a draw would be a bad result - so you can imagine how we feel with a defeat.

"Very good performance, of course some mistakes, some things to improve, a very unfair result. My team told me I am right when I say from the beginning of the season we go to every match to win. We played against the champions in their stadium and we had the best chances to win.

"The team was brilliant. Today Liverpool didn't look a team that is champion, European champion, world champion - that difference was not on the pitch.

'We are together for not a long time. Of course the result is the most important.

"I told him (Klopp) the best team lost and he disagreed, but that's his opinion - if I behave the same way he does on the touchline, I do not stay there. That's animated? For some reason I am different..."

Tottenham manager José Mourinho has never won away against Liverpool’s Jürgen Klopp in six attempts in all competitions (D2 L4), with Klopp being the manager he’s faced the most away from home without ever tasting victory.

  8. 'A fair result'published at 22:00 Greenwich Mean Time 16 December 2020

    Fulham 0-0 Brighton

    Fulham

Fulham captain Joachim Andersen: "I wouldn't say delighted, we want to win today but we kept a clean sheet. We created enough today but did not have the big, big chances. A draw is a fair result.

"We are getting to know each other more and more, you can see the last four, five games it has been better. We are doing great at the moment and just have to continue.

"Brighton play like Liverpool and they are a good team. We have many games and have to recover quickly.

"We are going to see some videos about Newcastle and it is difficult to go so much on the pitch when we have three days until the next game.

"When the fans are not here, we are always missing them. Football is for the fans, it is not the same atmosphere without them, I hope we will have them back soon."

Loser92: Spurs were fearfully unlucky to leave Anfield with nothing. They had several good chances to grab all three points. That’s the difference between title contenders and top four contenders.

Phillip West: 2-1!!! Get in! That one‘s for Gerard Houllier.

Noel Fitzpatrick: Curtis Jones looked so much at home in that midfield he had his slippers in the centre circle!! Fantastically disciplined performance by the whole team.

I still don't know qute how Harry Kane put that header over the bar.

He headed it down and he was only about five yards out. Defied physics for the bounce to be that high.

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson: "It was a good game, very tactical, probably what you expect in terms of us dominating with the ball, creating chances and getting done on the counter. Overall the performance was outstanding.

"We concentrate on keeping going until the final whistle goes. I am delighted with the lads. We deserved the three points. One of our best performances of the season.

'We focus on ourselves, it might give them a dent but it is more about us. Our focus has to be on the weekend against Palace."

Jose Mourinho will be very disappointed with that result. They put a good effort in tonight. Got themselves level and had some great chances second half.

Liverpool were the better team over the 90 minutes and created the more chances. But...when you analyse that goal, did Jordan Henderson deliberately block Eric Dier?

    Liverpool 2-1 Tottenham

Liverpool are unbeaten in 66 Premier League home matches (W55-D11-L0), since a 2-1 defeat against Sam Allardyce's Crystal Palace on 23 April 2017.

This is the second-longest home unbeaten run in the top four tiers of English football, after 86 by Chelsea from March 2004 to October 2008 (W62-D24-L0).

That 86-match run for the Blues included all 60 league home fixtures of José Mourinho's first spell as manager of Chelsea
