    Aston Villa

Aston Villa boss Dean Smith: "We had enough chances to win two or three games. The penalty box was our downfall today, we had good chances but probably didn't work the goalkeeper as much as we could.

"Only seven on target and we should have done better with the players we have but it was just one of those days in front of goal. I can't be disappointed with the performance I thought we were excellent.

"I like the fact we had to change 40% of the team today. It tested the squad, we had to make changes but those who have been on the fringe came in and did well.

"For me, the positive on the back of Wolves is it is another clean sheet."

This half seems to have gone on for an age already. Bruno Fernandes whips in a free-kick from the left and it's well cleared.

Marcus Rashford lines up a free-kick from a long way out and spanks it into the wall.

Joe Baker: United don't start Fred and McTominay together and low and behold we look a better, more balanced and effective team. Who'd have thought it?!

Shaun McCann: If Man Utd were half as decent at home as we are away we'd be walking this league. If only our defence was half as good as our forward line.....

Neil Keenan: Hold on, if we win our game in hand we go 2nd yet people want Ole out

I missed it while doing a dingbats round on our Christmas quiz but Phil Jagielka has come off, completing the lesser-spotted subbed on and off in the same game double.

It's difficult for Sheffield United, they are trying to close them down but Manchester United are keeping the ball for fun.

It's going to be a long 25 minutes for the hosts. Heads down as Mason Greenwood lashes in a shot and Aaron Ramsdale beats it away.

Yes if Manchester United win here they go sixth - five points off top with a game in hand.

It is consistency with Manchester United, but they have a good chance because no one is running away with the league.

Manchester United could probably bring on Wayne Rooney's kid now, it's turned into a right stroll.

Manchester United have another counter but Bruno Fernandes makes a poor decision and plays a bad pass. For once.

He had a body made out of cooked pasta for that third goal.

That's put the game to bed you'd have to say.

Karl: Pogba will always lose the ball but the boy doesn’t shy away that hold up play and skill to take Sheffield Utd players out of play was unreal and well played the ref for play on.

Andrew Mitchell: Dean Henderson had a shocker earlier, but the drop in quality from him to Ramsdale is a big factor in Sheffield United’s current predicament. I know he’s young, but he doesn’t look like a Premier League keeper a lot of the time.

I was just about to say has anyone seen Aaron Ramsdale make a save this season but I'll allow Magowan to throw him under the bus.

Dean Henderson has hardly covered himself in glory this evening, but he came to Sheffield United's rescue on numerous occasions last season, and you have to say that Aaron Ramsdale has been a downgrade this campaign.

That was exactly the kind of error you don't need when everything is against you at the bottom of the table.

It starts from Paul Pogba! The way he spins, great feet. I think George Baldock could take Marcus Rashford out but he hesitates. It's a good strike from Rashford but Aaron Ramsdale should do better - it goes through his hands. It came from Sheffield United's throw-in.

That's what Manchester United can do when they break, that pace is hard to stop.

    Marcus Rashford (51 mins)

Superb flowing counter-attack from Manchester United! It starts with Paul Pogba doing a Zidane sort of spin on the edge of his own area, they sweep downfield, Bruno Fernandes is fouled but the referee lets play go on and Marcus Rashford fires right through the body of Aaron Ramsdale.

Not great goalkeeping, but a great counter.

That was magnificent from Marcus Rashford with that run. He beat two or three as everyone was trying to kick him.

Marcus Rashford is being particularly jet-heeled tonight. He's making the Blades look like they're going backwards.
