  1. 'Perfect winger play from Eze'published at 16:14 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2021

    Crystal Palace 2-0 Sheffield Utd

    Steve Sidwell
Former Chelsea midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

Sheffield United look a bit disjointed in terms of their shape allowing players to go down the wide areas. Eberechi Eze again just wants to play give and goes - I love watching a midfield player or a wide man who wants to play the pass and then continue his run.

He played a perfect one two and then played another one with Wilfried Zaha - I love watching that it's perfect winger play.

    Thanks Jim.

Apparently Christian Benteke suffered a dead leg, they discussed at half time whether he should come off or try and continue.

In the end he had to make way.

  4. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 47 mins

    Indeed he cannot.

Two minutes into the second half and Palace have to make their second enforced change of the game.

Christian Benteke hobbles off with Jordan Ayew entering the action.

A few seconds into the second half, Christian Benteke slumps to the turf like a moody teenager.

But the Belgian has taken a knock and it doesn't look like he cannot continue you know.

Did Sheff Utd pay £23million for Brewster, just so they have him for the championship next season? Get him on the pitch for the love of God.

    Shaun, Harrogate.

Eze scoring one of the goals of the season yet that was pretty pathetic from the Sheffield United defence. I am not complaining though!

Evan Pritchard: That kind of defending is why Sheffield United haven't won a match this season. And doesn't look like that'll change today.

Naim Rahman: That was so "Eze" by Eze ....

Jonathan Ridgway: What a goal by Eze. Take a bow son.

  10. 'Magnificent Eze'published at 16:01 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2021

    Crystal Palace 2-0 Sheffield United

    Leon Osman
Former Everton midfielder on BBC Final Score

Eberechi Eze doesn't even get out of second gear.

The best thing about that goal is he looks at the ball once. His head is up the whole time. He's looking at where he's going, watching the players around him. It's a magnificent goal.

The defending needs questioning but the way he uses the defender to bend the finish into the far corner is brilliant.

  12. 'We are not in control of our players 24 hours a day'published at 15:59 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2021

    Tottenham 3-0 Leeds

    Tottenham Hotspur

Spurs boss Jose Mourinho speaking to BBC Sport: "Very important [to win]. The run of results lately was not good. We didn't play against Fulham, of course.

"Look at the table and you have one match less and not happy with what you see. With this three points you are now happier to look at the screen.

"Leeds are a team with very specific qualities. Easy to understand but difficult to play against.

"We tried not to give them what they want. Close the door where they have situations where they can hurt people.

"Son is a classic player. We need Sonny to connect and influence each other's performances. [Kane and Son] are very good. We asked the players for mobility and escape from man-to-man marking. We worked on the mobility for the [Son] goal two days ago."

On their Cup semi-final: "We think about the cup, semi-final against a very good team. They could be Premier League level. We need to match their motivation."

On the photos of his players socialising: "Any reaction is we do everything to keep out players safe. Every club tried to do the same. We are not in control of our players 24 hours a day. I think I told you enough and told you everything."

  13. 'The result could have been closer'published at 15:58 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2021

    Tottenham 3-0 Leeds

    Leeds United

Leeds coach Marcelo Bielsa speaking to BBC's MOTD: "According to the display of both teams the result could have been a closer one. We had nine chances to score.

"And the chances they had and scored from, they came from errors.

"We already made these types of errors. We played the game on an even keel. Our forwards had the capacity to unbalance them and defenders had the capacity to neutralise.

"We were losing the ball when building up from the back and a goal from a set-piece.

"We need to demand more from ourselves. The start of the second half was a very important part of the game - we didn't go at it in a favourable manner."

  16. 'It was a negative surprise for us' - Mourinhopublished at 15:56 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2021

    Tottenham 3-0 Leeds

    Tottenham Hotspur

Here's more from Spurs boss Jose Mourinho...

On Son and Kane: "They are very good players as you know. That together plus the way we want them to interact brings goals. I want more goals from other players - the second goal today was great because it was something we spoke about because of the way Leeds defend. To have a striker on the right wing and a winger on the near post pleases us."

More on the partying players (Sergio Reguilon, Giovani Lo Celso and Erik Lamela seen socialising): "I gave an amazing gift (to Reguilon) - Portuguese piglet. Amazing for Portuguese and Spanish. I was told he would spend Christmas on his own. He was not alone as you could see. We the club feel disappointed because we gave the players all the education and conditions. We are not happy - it was a negative surprise for us."

Angry? "I prefer to say disappointed. We know what we are internally. We don't need to open the door to you and let you know what is going on internally. What are going to be the consequences and how deeply we approach that negative surprise? I feel disappointed."

    Crystal Palace 2-0 Sheffield Utd

Former Chelsea midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

We thought Eberechi Eze was cool and calm and composed but this goal! He just weaves in and out of the Sheffield United team. If there's a player you could compare that finish to it would be Thierry Henry - he just slots it in the bottom right corner.

He glides through the Sheffield United team and slots a cool finish past Aaron Ramsdale. What a goal, I always love watching Eze he's just got so much talent.
