As long as you're in a game, there's 90 minutes in a match, you could be 1-0 down for the majority of the game but come the end if you get that one chance you need to put it away and that's where Sheffield United have fell short this season. As well as keeping clean sheets, they've not been good enough defensively.

Roy Hodgson's right-hand man Ray Lewington is out on the touchline early doors, barking out instructions to the Palace players.

The Eagles assistant was credits for an "apoplectic" half-time team talk in their draw v Leicester last time out.

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Sheffield Utd

    Leon Osman
Former Everton midfielder on BBC Final Score

Sheffield United just need a little bit of luck. They're not losing by three or four goals every game.

They need to stop conceding goals and start scoring. The strikers aren't getting goals, so can the midfielders and defenders get some like last season?

It's surprising, they were so difficult to break down last season. They need to get that belief.

Wilfried Zaha has eight Premier League goals this season, twice his final tally in 2019-20.

The winger is on course to reach double figures in a top-flight campaign for just the second time in his career.

  6. 'Blades not clinical enough'published at 14:56 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2021

Crystal Palace v Sheffield Utd (15:00 GMT)

    Steve Sidwell
Former Chelsea midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

As a whole Sheffield United have been a victim of their own success - they hugely over achieved last season. We could see that with the lock down and then coming back after the break they didn't have any kind of form and they've struggled this season.

If you look at the squad in general it is the squad that were promoted from League One - yes they spent £100m over the course of two seasons but they needed the investment and the quality added.

These players now are the same as last season and they were putting the chances away - goals win games. They need to clean up at the back, stop goals going in. But they're always engaged - if you look at the games this season it's only usually been by one goal that they've lost by, some in the last minute.

They've not been drummed twos and threes so they are in games they're just not clinical enough.

The Blades are only the third team in top-flight history to remain winless at the turn of the year, and the first for 118 years.

Chris Wilder's side could also set a club record by going 20 league games without a victory, which includes three fixtures from last season.

Rooted to the bottom of the table and yet to collect three points.

If Sheffield United fail to win they will set a new record for most Premier League games without a victory from the start of a season, surpassing QPR's 16-match run in 2012-13.

  9. 'Result is not decided on a team sheet'published at 14:50 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2021

    Sheffield United

Sheffield United have 16-year-old Antwoine Hackford on a depleted substitutes bench and are giving Jayden Bogle his first Premier League start since joining from Derby County.

Earlier this week the Blades said they had recorded "a number of positive coronavirus tests" after the latest round of testing.

"We have to keep going and rolling with the punches," says boss Chris Wilder.

"We have taken a few hits along the way and today we have nine out injured or unavailable. A result is not decided on a team sheet. It's what happens on the pitch."

  10. 'The forwards were very damaging'published at 14:47 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2021

    Tottenham 3-0 Leeds

    Leeds United

Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa speaking to BT Sport: "We had moments and in general the first half was good. It was better in the initial 30 minutes and more even in the final 15 minutes of the first half.

"The beginning of the second half was our worst moment in the game. And in the end, it was again positive.

"There are two aspects that unbalanced the game. The opponents' forwards were very damaging and difficult to contain. We made some unforced errors which facilitated their attack but we had good offensive production. What we needed to do was not lose the ball in our own half.

"There was a lot of danger on the second balls and on the set-pieces. We could have aspired to a closer game.

"We have already gone through similar moments like this and there are improvements that are needed of course. The ones against Chelsea and Man Utd - this game was clearly better. But there are steps we need to make that we haven't yet made."

  11. 'A very good win'published at 14:44 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2021

    Tottenham 3-0 Leeds

    Leon Osman
Former Everton midfielder on BBC Final Score

Very good win for Spurs, exactly how they would want to start the new year.

Three scored, a clean sheet. The red card for Doherty will be a little bit of a disappointment.

It was perfect for Jose Mourinho's team. He likes to defend deep and Leeds gave Spurs the spaces to play into.

  12. 'Sonny and Harry are doing special things'published at 14:38 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2021

    Tottenham 3-0 Leeds

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho to BT Sport: "The three points are very important. I think we understood how well they could hurt us and how we could hurt them. In that aspect I am happy but I still think we can and have to do better."

On Harry Kane and Son Heung-min's partnership: "Of course, the understanding is good and against Leeds it was important to have that ability in attack. They stay man-to-man so if you stay static you give them an easy job. That movement of Harry Kane and Sonny in the finishing positions fit well.

"I think in the Premier League there are many good players everywhere even in clubs where you don't believe they can have great players. But I have to say that Sonny and Harry are doing special things this season.

"I want goals coming from other players and I want them to feel like they can express themselves. We had Toby [Alderweireld] of course in set-plays. We have played in other positions to score. We have players from other positions appearing in finishing positions which is what I want from them."

On 'easier' fixtures: "When we played the people who are considered the top six people say easier games are coming but I of course don't believe it. Leeds are difficult and Aston Villa is my favourite team in the Premier League at the moment. I enjoy watching them, they have good players and very well coached. This is up next."

On games getting cancelled for Covid-19: "I go back to the initial rules of if you have 14 players available you have to play. I don't see another reason for not doing it. I think every club does the best for their players to keep them all safe but then there are moments in private lives which you cannot control. Not everyone can be blamed so we have to carry on. If somebody has some positives, we have to play."

15th v 20th for this next one and there will be goals today, I guarantee you that.

Palace have gone 15 top-flight matches without a clean sheet, second only to Sheffield United's current run of 19.

  14. No stopping Kane & Sonpublished at 14:34 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2021

    Tottenham 3-0 Leeds

    Tottenham Hotspur

Harry Kane and Son Heung-min have combined for 13 Premier League goals this season.

No pair have ever combined for more in a single campaign in the competition.

Kane has assisted Son nine times so far – a joint-record for one player assisting another within a Premier League season.

  17. 'To score 100 goals with one team is a big thing'published at 14:30 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2021

    Tottenham 3-0 Leeds

    Tottenham Hotspur

Spurs goalscorer Son Heung-min speaking to BT Sport: "It was a really difficult game. We know how they're doing - unbelievable job. To get a clean sheet, 3-0. To start the new year is fantastic."

Scoring 100 goals for Spurs: "I'm very happy and grateful for my team-mates. I am not doing it alone - I need a lot of help for this big achievement.

"To score 100 goals with one team is a big thing. I'm very proud. Good way to start the new year."

On Kane and Son partnership: "We're working hard and working on it for a long time. I am a bit sad I couldn't give an assist to 'H'. He knew I was there. Sometimes it is telepathic, sometimes we talk about it."

Dan D: Great attacking display again by Leeds, who lose 3-0.

Bob Moss: Leeds have done the impossible and made Spurs look good. Let's see what happens when Spurs come up against a team that can defend

Oliver Camp: As a Spurs fan, this hasn't done much to allay my fears. A dubious penalty and some poor goalkeeping were the luck we needed. Literally one moment of quality for the second goal. Otherwise, we've been outplayed. Many players simply poor.
