  3. 'Eze produced the magic'published at 18:28 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2021

    Crystal Palace 2-0 Sheffield United

    Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson speaking to BBC Sport: "Eze was a great option to come on and he produced the magic. The intensity of this league is very high, I don't know the Championship but I think it's fair to say you get a little more time there. He's working unbelievably hard and it was important today that not only he scored the goal but that we kept a clean sheet.

"We have conceded some unbelievably late goals and it was good today that they didn't get one because it can give you a situation which you don't want to experience. It surprises me we have let in so many goals but three games so far have blown our goal difference out of the sky."

On Luke Milivojevic not following coronavirus guidelines: "It's an internal matter but I must say we're very disappointed about it. We don't expect our players to break rules. Luka [Milivojevic] has apologised but that is not enough - he has to take responsibility. We can only apologise, we are unhappy about it and we will deal with the matter internally."

  6. 'It's an incredible struggle'published at 18:25 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2021

    Crystal Palace 2-0 Sheffield Utd

    Sheffield United

Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder tells Sky Sports: "As soon as the second goal goes in, it is an uphill mountain to climb.

"I have players who are not fit, good players not involved, some young players like Rhian Brewster learning his trade in the Premier League and it is a tough trade to learn. He played against Everton and Burnley defenders previously and then he was up against it today. We are struggling for that final little bit, confidence and belief allows players to play better, see passes quicker. I thought we played OK, we were well in the game even after conceding the early goal.

"We are missing nine players out of the group, and some big ones. We don't look like an established Premier League club and are not, it is going to be an incredible struggle from the position we are in.

"It all depends on the results above us but the longer it goes on the more difficult it becomes. A win would be very helpful and see where we go from there, it chips away at your confidence and belief, we are not enjoying the position we are in and it's not good to be in or see.

"You have to believe the next game is the one. The start has put us in a bad position, the one before half time and the chances we created we did not take. We have to get that right if we are going to put a run together."

  7. 'We are delighted with Eze'published at 18:22 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2021

    Crystal Palace 2-0 Sheffield United

    Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson speaking to Sky Sports: "I thought we were very solid and we knew we had to be against a very competitive team who overload well in the wide areas. When we did get a hold on the ball we were able to score two very good goals.

"Unfortunately that confidence and composure to score lots of goals only comes if you've had good performances beforehand and unfortunately we've had a few bad results. You know confidence is affected by results and if you get in the lead it will be nervous and you can lose that lead. That was my worry."

On Eberechi Eze: "We are delighted with him and we think he's a very good signing for the club. We appreciate his ability. I went with Andros [Townsend] because I knew it would be physical today. It was always good to know [Eze] was there to bring on if we needed him to change the game. That happened earlier than expected but we are glad that he did it.

"Jeffrey Schlupp got a muscle injury - a hamstring injury - and we won't know how bad that is until he gets a scan so we might lose him for a period of time."

On Luka Milivojevic not following coronavirus guidelines: "I know about it and obviously we condemn it. It doesn't do the image of the club any good and I expect Luka to take responsibility for it. The fact is there are government guidelines which are there for all to follow. We know he didn't put the other team at risk because he tested negative."

I’m sure he is a nice guy but what on Earth does Potter see in Burn? He is too clumsy to be a LB and doesn’t offer anything in either box! Can we get back to man marking on corners as well please Potter?

Have Brighton really made any progress since getting rid of Chris Hughton? 1 win at home in 2020...

    Will, Wadhurst

Potter has ruined Brighton. They used to be tight in defence and able to grind out results. Now they're shipping way more goals than they can possibly score. At least in the championship I'll be able to get my seat back. And sit in it by then.
