    St Mirren 2-1 Rangers

This could be a long 30 minutes for Jim Goodwin's side, but the St Mirren boss prides himself on having his side well organised. This is what he's all about.

They are ticking every box so far, but still a while to go yet.

  3. Gerrard turns to the benchpublished at 21:16 Greenwich Mean Time 16 December 2020

    St Mirren 2-1 Rangers

Calvin Bassey has struggled, and he's replaced by Borna Barisic.

Scott Arfield also makes way for Steven Davis.

This is a big half hour for the Rangers boss.

GOAL - St Mirren 2-1 Rangerspublished at 21:12 Greenwich Mean Time 16 December 2020

    Jamie McGrath

    Hold on a minute!

It's a lovely goal in an attacking sense from the hosts, but it's poor defensively from Rangers.

Dylan Connolly is giving Calvin Bassey a torrid time of it as he skips past the left back and finds Jon Obika. The striker lays the ball back to McGrath who drops the shoulder and slots home pass Allan McGregor.

    St Mirren 1-1 Rangers

Well, that would've just been a ridiculous goal.

Dylan Connolly's cross from the right catches the wind and hits the top of the bar.

    St Mirren 1-1 Rangers

Rangers don't look as slick as they were in the first half here in the early stages of the second period, and it's much to the frustration of Steven Gerrard on the sidelines...

  7. CLOSE!published at 21:04 Greenwich Mean Time 16 December 2020

    Livingston 2-0 Ross County

Jack Fitzwater has just headed narrowly off target as Livingston press for a third goal, with teammate Scott Robinson having fired against the crossbar moments later.

  8. KICK-OFFpublished at 21:03 Greenwich Mean Time 16 December 2020

    St Mirren 1-1 Rangers

    We're back underway in Paisley.

Can St Mirren end Rangers' unbeaten run, or will the Ibrox club's relentless form continue?

Thumbs up for St Mirren, thumbs down for Rangers...

  9. Livi in controlpublished at 21:02 Greenwich Mean Time 16 December 2020

    Livingston 2-0 Ross County

Elsewhere tonight, Livingston are still 2-0 up against Ross County early in the second half in West Lothian.

Can Livi hold on, or will County fight back?

What a huge result it would be for interim boss David Martindale if Livi can see it out.

  10. What happened last night?published at 20:59 Greenwich Mean Time 16 December 2020

At one point last night, there was a real possibility of two Championship representatives making it to the last four of the competition.

After taking the lead through a Paul Hanlon own goal, Alloa fell to a gut-wrenching late defeat against Hibernian at the Indodrill as the Leith club booked their place in the semi-finals for the third time in four seasons.

In the other tie, Dunfermline's Iain Wilson cancelled out Shaun Rooney's extra-time opener for St Johnstone after a goalless 90 minutes.

However, the Premiership side responded by claiming victory in a dramatic penalty shootout as the Perth club reached the last four of the League Cup for the first time since 2016.

  12. HALF-TIME - St Mirren 1-1 Rangerspublished at 20:47 Greenwich Mean Time 16 December 2020

After an early goal from Connor Goldson and a largely dominant first-half showing, it looked like Rangers were on course to extend their unbeaten run and progress to the last four of the League Cup.

However, Calvin Bassey's clumsy trip on Dylan Connolly allowed Jamie McGrath to equalise from the spot.

    Big second half to come...

    St Mirren 1-1 Rangers

I was literally just about to say that St Mirren had to get to half-time at 1-0, but that changes everything!

    First shot, first goal.

How will Steven Gerrard's side react?

Wow, where did that come from?!

  17. HALF-TIME - Livingston 2-0 Ross Countypublished at 20:34 Greenwich Mean Time 16 December 2020

So far, so good for Livingston. So far, so bad for Ross County.

Craig Sibbald and Alan Forrest's goals have Livi on course for the semi-finals.

County striker Billy Mckay did force a save in stoppage time for the visitors and they have a lot to do to turn this around.

    Connor Goldson!

The centre-back has been Rangers' best attacker tonight as he almost turns provider, brushing off a defender before sending a ball into the area.

Shortly after Ryan Kent sees a dangerous cross of his own evade everyone in the area.

Rangers now back on top here as a lovely reverse pass from Ryan Kent sets Joe Aribo in behind, but his cross is blocked behind.

The resulting corner is dealt with by the St Mirren defence.
