However, the Premiership side responded by claiming victory in a dramatic penalty shootout as the Perth club reached the last four of the League Cup for the first time since 2016.

You won't have long to wait to find out the semi-final ties as the draw takes place following the game between St Mirren and Rangers.

One tie will be played on 23 January next year, with the other taking place the following day.

After an early goal from Connor Goldson and a largely dominant first-half showing, it looked like Rangers were on course to extend their unbeaten run and progress to the last four of the League Cup.

However, Calvin Bassey's clumsy trip on Dylan Connolly allowed Jamie McGrath to equalise from the spot.

Shortly after Ryan Kent sees a dangerous cross of his own evade everyone in the area.

Rangers now back on top here as a lovely reverse pass from Ryan Kent sets Joe Aribo in behind, but his cross is blocked behind.

The resulting corner is dealt with by the St Mirren defence.
