  3. Postpublished at 89 mins

    Southampton 1-0 Liverpool

Chance! Nope. Sadio Mane is picked out at the far post, chests it down and - well not sure what happened there. He ended up putting it back to the edge of the area.

Harish Lakka: Lack of critical finishing, way too many bad balls, sloppy goals and not being able to breakdown organized defences is a theme for many clubs. No reason to believe it won't happen until end of season for most top teams. Wildcard champion on the cards?

Simon Atkins: Last season, this was the sort of game Liverpool would hit two in the last 10 minutes to win. I just can't see them being good enough this year, unfortunately.

Southampton have been brilliant. Forster has not had a save to make. They've defended really well.

    Southampton 1-0 Liverpool

Kyle Walker-Peters, who has excelled once more tonight, pulls over Sadio Mane, the ref waves play on and Mane kicks out in frustration and is booked.

  8. CLOSE!published at 84 mins

    Southampton 1-0 Liverpool

Very nearly the killer second though! Sub Yan Valery has the whole of the right flank to run into, Alisson comes out a good 30 yards or so to clear but the defender gets there first. He threads the shot through Alisson's legs but it's not got the legs and Jordan Henderson can get back to clear!

  9. Postpublished at 83 mins

    Southampton 1-0 Liverpool

The Reds can fail to net in consecutive Premier League matches for the second time under Jürgen Klopp, after April to May 2018: 0-0 home draw against Stoke City and 1-0 defeat at Chelsea.

Still seven minutes to find the net though.

  10. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 81 mins

    Southampton 1-0 Liverpool

Why don't you come on over, Yan Valery?

    He's on for Theo Walcott.

  11. Postpublished at 80 mins

    Southampton 1-0 Liverpool

71.7% of it in the second half, to be precise. Still just the one shot on target for Fraser Forster to worry about though as James Milner is chopped down by Theo Walcott of all people.

Liverpool remaining patient, no panic or long balls yet, Roberto Firmino pulls out wide on this occasion and puts in a good ball but it's brilliantly watched and cleared again.

Southampton are so deep that Jordan Henderson is basically playing in midfield - and is the last man. Pinned back.
