  4. 'We've conceded a lot of goals'published at 20:27 Greenwich Mean Time 19 January 2021

FT: West Ham 2-1 West Brom

    West Bromwich Albion

West Brom boss Sam Allardyce speaking to BT Sport: "We came here to follow on picking up points at Wolves. It’s a great effort but there's those lapse in concentration moments where we’ve conceded two goals that we could've avoided. One less than 10 seconds before the end of the first half, bit more concentration on dealing with clearance at the beginning allowing that to go back to the opposition and then the cross. There were enough bodies to deal with it but unfortunately a goal.

"Great response in the second half - we got our goal but you have to expect in the Premier League that the home team will put a bit of pressure on you and that pressure did come. So even though we did fight back and created a chance or two, ultimately we lost the game because their final third play was better than ours.

"I'm seeing a difference at the training ground and what the players are doing. We contained West Ham, who are on a good run, and we limited them to very little but that lapse of concentration again meant that we didn’t go in at half-time at 0-0 so we have to get better in concentration in those moments. We’ve conceded more goals than anybody else in the Premier League and we’re working hard to stop that. Pleased with second half response and the goal but ultimately our defence has let us down."

So much for a positive start...

Chelsea were asleep at a free-kick, asleep at a corner then asleep at a clearance.

    You get the idea.

  8. 'Sometimes you have to win ugly and tonight we did that'published at 20:24 Greenwich Mean Time 19 January 2021

FT: West Ham 2-1 West Brom

    West Ham United

West Ham boss David Moyes speaking to BT Sport: "We needed a win tonight it wasn't our best performance but that keeps a small run going and we're showing some growth - growing in how we play and what we do I would've liked to play better but not disappointed with three points that's for sure.

"I'd like to dream a lot but we're very humble and understand we're West Ham and not going to start shouting things too soon because history has shown we haven't always backed it up and I want to be the one to back it up. We're going step by step and making good progress picking up points. I want us to be competing at the top end and to do that we have to keep winning and sometimes you have to win a bit ugly and tonight we did that."

On potential transfers: "It would be important if the right ones were there but only if the ones are available that we want. We don't want to bring people in who won't help the team and if we don't we'll find solutions within the squad."

Very basic defending not being done by Chelsea then. The build-up to the corner with the free-kick and the fact Christian Pulisic was left to charge down James Maddison and Marc Albrighton on his own when the corner was played short. Sloppy.

GOAL - Leicester 1-0 Chelseapublished at 6 mins

    Wilfred Ndidi

Marc Albrighton and James Maddison play it short from the corner and again, Chelsea are asleep.

It comes out to Wilfred Ndidi on the edge of the box, he hits it really sweetly, Jonny Evans ducks out of the way and it bounces off the inside of the post and in.

    What a finish!

Wesley Fofana is at the back post but he doesn't attack it, allowing Tammy Abraham to nod it behind for a corner.

  12. 'We would like to dream'published at 20:20 Greenwich Mean Time 19 January 2021

    West Ham 2-1 West Brom

    West Ham United

West Ham boss David Moyes, speaking to BBC Sport: "I didn't like the performance but I liked the result. When you are not playing well and still picking up points it is a good sign.

"I didn't think we played well but this is a resurgent West Brom and it says a bit about us that we are bit a disappointed with the performance.

"We have been very good defensively recently and I felt we gave them an opportunity but fair credit the boy hit a shot and scored."

On Antonio: "There was a period after lockdown when he was very fit and look at the goals he scored then. We felt we were over it, we are looking to get him to get back to his level of fitness but he is certainly back to his level of goals because he is nearly a goal a game since he came."

Only three points behind Manchester City in second... "We would like to dream, we would like to be ambitious but we are also humble and we know West Ham have maybe been here before. I want to deliver when the time is right and I want us to be there when we can. We are not settling, we certainly have to do a lot better."

We're under way at The King Power Stadium with Leicester City knowing victory will put them top of the Premier League.

The Foxes sneaked in under the radar with all the attention focused on the meeting between Liverpool and Manchester United at the weekend but there is no doubt they can really make their mark on the title race in this most unpredictable of seasons. They have been so impressive at times this season.

Chelsea are having a mixed time of it but they have made a very positive start.
