Another smart Villa break after Joao Cancelo lost the ball, Ross Barkley curls in an effort which takes a deflection on its way wide.

City haven't really got a forward tonight, which may be part of the problem. Villa aren't seeing much of the ball - 31% - but they are a threat when they do get it.

Another neat counter down their left ends in a Jack Grealish cutback being cut out.

If I was a forward at City, I'd just stay in the box because De Bruyne's delivery is just first class.

Oliver Camp: A lot of really classy, underrated players in this Villa team. Konsa & Mings class at CB. Luiz & McGinn industrious at the base of the midfield. Quality throughout. Good to watch.

Villa keeper Emi Martinez gets a ticking off from ref Jon Moss - about time wasting.

Both managers have a laugh about it on the sideline after initially getting heated. On the restart Jack Grealish tees up Ross Barkley for a shot which is a tester for Ederson in the wet. Good save.

Weather watch - the rain is getting heavier here. The pitch is coping pretty well so far though - no puddles yet.

It's excellent again from Phil Foden on that left wing, into the area and away from Matt Cash before picking out Rodri on the edge of the box - his shot hits Raheem Sterling and flies over.

Marc Antony Quinn: imagine Diego Costa on a free to Man City, would solve their striker problem and win them the league.

Lovely, fluid attack started by Phil Foden, it's pulled back to Kevin de Bruyne on the edge of the area and his shot is hit very hard indeed, rocks Tyrone Mings' head!

Brave block. And Raheem Sterling then gets behind on the right wing but his cross is well cleared. Villa are being made to defend very well.

Traore tried to beat Ederson at the near post, he would have been better off drilling across the face of goal.

Good football from Villa as they stretch the game, Jack Grealish is in space on the left and he picks out Bertrand Traore, who fires wide.

Kyle Walker's knock eventually sees him off - on comes Oleksandr Zinchenko.

Villa with a lively counter after a load of City ball, Douglas Luiz is twice involved and his low cross hits the hand of Ruben Dias, via his stretched foot. A half-hearted appeal but no real belief in a handball shout.

Villa do have a corner though. Which is cleared.

And that is why I don't miss Barkley at Chelsea - indecision so often with the final ball. If somebody could cure him of that, he'd be a very good player.

Phil Foden has started this game superbly, he's playing very wide on the left and sends in Joao Cancelo on the underlap but his ball across goal misses everyone in blue.

Kyle Walker is down in a heap now and is set for some treatment.
