Villa willhave to make a change - it might have to be Ross Barkley or Bertrand Traore because they just need an outlet at the moment. They are getting sucked back in.

It is end to end at the moment though. I think this half is going to be even better than the first.

And that's the closest we've come! Superb from Joao Cancelo as he runs beyond Kevin de Bruyne from right back, beats his man with a great dummy and then clips a left-footed shot over Emi Martinez.

It would be in too but it's a foot too high and smacks the crossbar.

Villa have barely touched the ball in ethe second half but just like that they call Ederson into action! A great early, long throw out by Emi Martinez sends Bertrand Traore into space and he drives on, cuts inside Kevin de Bruyne and shoots.

He's a long way out but Ederson can't hold it, wet pitch and all that, but does grab it at the second attempt. Good effort.

Manchester City mean business but one thing I have noticed is Matty Cash for Aston Villa - and he's a very good defender - but he's so narrow that when ball goes to Phil Foden, he's letting Foden get the run on him. As soon as he switches the play, don't him get the run on you one on one.

Lovely approach play once again from the hosts as Phil Foden holds off his man and finds Ilkay Gundogan. He's scored some fine goals of late but this time his shot is just too high.

Jack Grealish took his time to come out for the second half, everyone was waiting for him! It's been a positive start from Manchester City so far though.

Gabriel Jesus is on the bench and an option, but he is wearing an awful lot of clothes. Who can blame him, but he'll need quite a lot of warning if Pep wants him on. Raheem Sterling's cross is cleared.

Why on earth are Villa letting Foden have as much time and space time as he wants on the left? Abysmal.

Are City going to win this or do what they did in the early part of the season, have huge possession with nothing to show for it?

Revival Fire: Cancelo is awesome during an attack build up, but 99% of the time he doesn’t deliver a final pass or proper shot.

Phil Foden had four shots & created three chances in the first half - in only one PL game has he had a hand in more shots (8 vs Cardiff in April 2019, 5 shots, 3 chances created).

It's been a really entertaining nil-nil. Villa are defending brilliantly, but City are missing their number nine - any team would, he is one of the best in the world.

Villa faced 13 shots in the first half, the most they've faced in the first half of a PL game since Feb 2020 v Southampton (also 13) and most without conceding since March 2016 vs Man City at the Etihad (13).

Villa have done well there. Dug in when they had to but possessed a threat on the break too.

As it stands City would remain third.

What a ball! What a ball again!

City clear a Villa corner and Raheem Sterling plays a dreamy through ball from well inside his own half to release Kevin de Bruyne down the right. He's got Phil Foden up with him but the route looks impassible.

He finds him though, somehow, Foden sidefoots the shot on goal but Matt Cash sticks out a foot and makes a great block.
