Some very good chances for Aston Villa - they have got their second wind! It's good play from Ollie Watkins and I thought Bertrand Traore was going to score but good block and good save from Ederson on Douglas Luiz.

Bertrand Traore is not happy about coming off and I can see why. He's had a good game but it's just tired legs.

Ross Barkley and Bertrand Traore are replaced by Villa, who then see Tyrone Mings somehow block a shot from close range.

From the corner, Emi Martinez makes the save and it looks like being a tap-in but Ilkay Gundogan is somehow denied!

That's a fine save! Again John Stones is caught upfield and Villa break really well, Jack Grealish and Ollie Watkins are involved on the left and Bertrand Traore has a shot charged down.

There's half a shout of handball but Douglas Luiz doesn't wait, he runs on and slams in a shot which Ederson has to claw out.

Ross Barkley has put in a hard shift and it's difficult when you haven't played in a few weeks but he's done well tonight. He keeps causing problems for Zinchenko.

John Stones pops up at right-back which seems a good idea until Villa counter and there's a boatload of space out there. Ross Barkley runs into it, again his final pass isn't the best as he has two men over but Villa do win a free-kick in a dangerous spot.

Stuart Mitchell: I don't necessarily disagree with that line up from Man Utd. But this game seemed the perfect chance to rest Fernandes and start VDB, for Liverpool at the weekend.

Aston Villa have defended brilliantly so far and what City have to be careful of is Villa hitting them on the break, because they have got the pace.

That's the closest we've come for a while! Again, Phil Foden just stays wide on the left and he's in space all night. He fires in low, it ping pongs around off a heel or two and Ilkay Gundogan slides in but slices his shot wide.

Manchester City are dominating in the midfield area and Ross Barkley - I like him, he's brilliant - but the pace of the game now is just starting to get to him.

Manchester City have upped the tempo now and Joao Cancelo has been brilliant. He checks in on his left foot and you are waiting for the net to ripple but it goes over.

Aston Villa are getting sucked in and they are starting to look a bit tired.

Fulham make two changes from the 1-0 loss to Chelsea, both enforced. Bobby Decordova-Reid and Antonee Robinson are suspended so Ruben Loftus-Cheek returns from injury to replace the former, with Joe Bryan replacing the latter at left-back.

Aleksandar Mitrovic is fit again and returns on the bench.

Scott McTominay drops to the bench, with Mason Greenwood coming into the side, which likely means Paul Pogba dropping into a deeper midfield role.
