"Liverpool we came very close [against], we got a point at Manchester City. Today we showed that we can compete [with the top teams]. To get the three points is a great achievement. It gives the boys confidence.

"We’re a strong group and we’ve added the lads in the summer. Everyone’s got their feet on the ground, [there are] no superstars."

David Moyes has done a great job. He's changed the mentality of the squad and the board.

He's bought players that will fit into his system, Vladimir Coufal and Tomas Soucek have been top class and he's added a sprinkling of magic with Said Benrahma and Jesse Lingard.

Liverpool showed signs against Manchester United that they were coming back to their best. Then against Spurs, Thiago Alcantara was better playing more advanced and Gigi Wijnaldum anchored the midfield, where he has such a good record. The signs were that the front three were back in form as well.

Liverpool XI: Alisson, Roberton, Phillips, Henderson, Alexander-Arnold, Wijnaldum, Thiago, Milner, Shaqiri, Salah, Origi.

Substitutes: Adrian, Kelleher, Firmino, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Jones, Minamino, Tsimikas, R Williams, N Williams.
