We talked about doing the basics when you get in good areas.

Not to get too greedy or get caught up in going past three or four players. Keep it simple and England will score a bucketload of goals and look a better team.

Michael Fletcher: Not convinced by Dominic Calvert-Lewin. Just have the feeling Patrick Bamford would have had a hat-trick by now. No issue with "selfish" Sterling though - the rest are trying to over-complicate things, he’s got the right idea.

Andy White: England 3 for 0. A bit disappointing in terms of tonight but would settle for that everyday in the cricket at the moment.

England have been really good. The one criticism is they have not been clinical enough.

They have not been tested but we'd have just expected more goals. Some of the misses have been comical.

It is going largely as you'd expect for the big boys in Europe tonight. Germany were 2-0 up against Iceland inside seven minutes but it remains that scoreline at the break in Duisburg.

Spain have been made to work for a slender lead by Greece, with Alvaro Morata the scorer.

Sweden also lead 1-0. Viktor Claesson scoring from Zlatan Ibrahimovic's assist.

The correct response to this match is an embarrassed shrug. No "we respected them", no talk of "thrashing them". No nonsense about how brilliantly English players have played against the butcher, the baker and the candlestick maker. Just move on.

    David, Ipswich

Re Jack 20:22 Why have a keeper at all? Give Stones the gloves and have him drop in if required. Then pick an extra striker.

Ward-Prowse scoring at Wembley, bodes well doesn't it?

Mason Mount has created seven chances in this match, all in open play, the most by an England player since Nathaniel Clyne at Euro 2016 vs Slovakia.

He got the assist for Raheem Sterling's third.

    Solid half from England.

A first goal for James Ward-Prowse, before Dominic Calvert-Lewin made it 2-0 and skipper Raheem Sterling added a third.

The San Marino players are blowing a bit...

That was brilliant goalkeeping from Elia Benedettini. He just read where Jesse Lingard was going to put it.

That would have felt quite cruel!

England break through Raheem Sterling down the right. It's cut back to Jesse Lingard in the middle and he's half-turning in celebration before goalkeeper Elia Benedettini makes another impressive save, low to his right!
