James Ward-Prowse rolls it into the feet of Jesse Lingard, who drifts away from his marker in the box.

He has two shots blocked before England win a corner. It's played short to Lingard but his cross hits the back of a defender.

Ben Chilwell is having so much joy. Jesse Lingard looks up to the heavens after that. He met it on the half-volley and fluffed it.

Jack Tanner... That is the best idea I've heard all day.

MAKE IT HAPPEN. BBC Sport's Emlyn Begley will be there with pom poms in his living room.

Jack Tanner: I think we should put our keeper up for every corner to introduce some element of danger.

Neil: Would England be shooting from distance as much against a stronger team? Rather than them all trying to score, how about setting up your team mate?

Andrew Morris: Hopefully now that Sterling has his goal he can stop playing so selfishly.

Let's face it, this is a non-starter competitively and was always going to be. England can get some match practice, knock a few goals in and move on and that is it.

San Marino are just sitting ducks. England keeper Nick Pope is doing a lot of walking to keep himself active.

Ben Chilwell sprints the entire length of the pitch - playing a one-two with Raheem Sterling on the way - and tees up Jesse Lingard.

He can't put it away at the back post. Another miss.

A few Raheem Sterling stats for you...

    • All 14 of Sterling's England goals have come in competitive internationals.
    • Sterling has scored 12 goals in his last 14 international appearances for England.
    • That was also Sterling's 150th goal in all competitions for club and country.

James Ward-Prowse is the link man in midfield. He lays it off to Reece James, who slips it through to Jesse Lingard.

He fizzes a really dangerous ball across the face of the goal but Dominic Calvert-Lewin can't get there.

Is that a first? Two England players with double barrelled surnames scored in the same match?

    Andy Redhill

RE: Anne's son's helpful explanation...thanks, but it doesn't explain why England aren't wearing the glorious 1966 all-red strip... PS: By the way, I think it's all over.

Ben Chilwell waits for Mason Mount's overlapping run and tees him up. He crosses it in first time, Jesse Lingard flicks it on and Dominic Calvert-Lewin volleys it just over the bar!

Raheem Sterling has been desperate for a goal. San Marino are going to be beaten but there are certain goals you don't want to give away.

As gameplans go, I know San Marino want to get some time on the ball but there's sometimes nothing wrong with just kicking the ball as far away as possible from your goal.

Ah. San Marino try to play out from the back. Not a good idea...

It comes straight to Mason Mount. He slides in Raheem Sterling, who checks back onto his right foot and blasts it in from close range.

    Simple.

England have been brilliant so far. They have been full or energy but they have been cute with it as well with the positions they have taken up.

We've talked about the opposition but England have put them to the sword.

Germany set off like a train, but they've been checked a bit by Iceland. Saying that, the away side have been predominantly on the back foot.

Elsewhere, there are few goal to mention. Hungary lead Poland 1-0 through a Roland Sallai goal.

It is still Spain 0-0 Greece.
