Celtic are on top, but they need to win. If they don't, a horrendous week just gets worse.

  5. HALF-TIME - Celtic 0-0 Hibernianpublished at 20:31 Greenwich Mean Time 11 January 2021

Hibernian were the better side for the first 15 minutes or so, and went reasonably close through Kevin Nisbet, Jamie Murphy, and Joe Newell.

But a Celtic side shorn of so many first-team players composed themselves, and could have been ahead themselves through efforts by Cameron Harper, Callum McGregor, and Ismaila Soro.

They really need all three points, though.

    Celtic 0-0 Hibernian

Celtic are just starting to motor as half-time looms. David Turnbull's brilliant chip finds Callum McGregor, but the Celtic captain can't turn the ball in from a tight angle.

    Turnbull loves a dink.

  7. CLOSE!published at 44 mins

    Celtic 0-0 Hibernian

Having just said Matt Macey hasn't been a busy man, the on-loan Arsenal keeper has to spring into action to tip Ismaila Soro's flying effort over the bar, then another long-ranger from Diego Laxalt!

    Celtic 0-0 Hibernian

Given the circumstances, Celtic have been pretty good after a shaky start. But Hibernian debutant Matt Macey has only had one save to make.

Not having a recognised centre forward is causing a few problems for the hosts.

I think Gavin Strachan will be happy so far. It's the same shape - they've obviously been working on it and this will be the system going forward. It's just the final pass or bit of movement that's missing.

There's a bit of argy-bargy between Ismaila Soro and Alex Gogic. The Celtic midfielder was late in his challenge, and gets booked for it.

A bit of inexperience there, I think.

    Celtic 0-0 Hibernian

We've just had a shot of Hibernian's Lewis Stevenson warming up on the sidelines. If he comes on tonight he'll make his 500th appearance for the club. A Hibs legend. A rare one-club man.

Jamie Murphy is having a good game for Hibs. A few goals tonight would of course help his current team, but also his parent club Rangers...

The young man went for glory there. He really should have cut that ball back

  14. CLOSE!published at 25 mins

    Celtic 0-0 Hibernian

Great chance for Celtic's 19-year-old debutant Cameron Harper. Mikey Johnston robbed Joe Newell on the edge of his own box, slipped through Harper who lashed into the side netting.

The better option was probably to cut the ball back to either Tom Rogic or David Turnbull, who were waiting to tap home. He didn't look up, though.

Celtic have got to be quick in their passing and precise. They're not going to be able to lump the ball up to the strikers.

After a frantic start, the game has settled somewhat. Celtic seeing a bit more of the ball as they try to find an opening.

Ismaila Soro trips Josh Doig as he tried to launch a counter attack for Hibs. Tactical fouling in all its glory.

    Celtic 0-0 Hibernian

Hibs have had five attempts to Celtic's one so far. Melker Hallberg threatened to squeeze in behind Ismaila Soro and into the box, but fouled the Celtic midfielder.

  19. CLOSE!published at 10 mins

    Celtic 0-0 Hibernian

Celtic's best spell is interrupted on the edge of Hibernian's box, and the visitors then break, with Jamie Murphy sending a gorgeous ball through to Kevin Nisbet on the right. The striker gets into the box and fires a low shot in on the angle, but Connor Hazard saves.

Up the other end, David Turnbull forces debutant Matt Macey into action. It's an open game so far!

    Celtic 0-0 Hibernian

Another Hibernian corner rains into the Celtic box, and the home side take an age to get it clear, but eventually do so.

Joe Newell then picks up some space just inside the box and manages to lash a shot goalward, which Connor Hazard beats clear.

Hibs corner number four coming up.
