  1. 'Newcastle will win, but not this one'published at 11:17 Greenwich Mean Time 30 January 2021

    Everton v Newcastle (12:30 GMT)

    Mark Lawrenson
    BBC football expert

It will be interesting to see if Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti sticks with goalkeeper Jordan Pickford after his error in Wednesday's draw with Leicester - he has dropped him before to bring Robin Olsen in.

That game was a missed opportunity for the Toffees, because three points would have put them right in the mix at the top end of the table.

I don't expect any slip-ups here, though, because Newcastle are on an awful run of form - they have taken only two points from their past nine league games and have lost five in a row.

They did have their moments in their midweek defeat against Leeds, but did not do enough and the closer they get to the relegation zone, the more pressure there is on manager Steve Bruce.

Newcastle will win a game eventually, of course. Just not this one.

    Prediction: 2-0

  3. Chelsea 'disgusted' by James abusepublished at 11:13 Greenwich Mean Time 30 January 2021

Chelsea say they are "disgusted" after right-back Reece James was racially abused on social media.

James, 21, posted a screenshot of racist messages he had received via Instagram on Friday, with the caption "something needs to change".

On Friday, West Brom said they had contacted police over an alleged racist message sent to midfielder Romaine Sawyers. A man has since been arrested.

Manchester United players Axel Tuanzebe and Anthony Martial were also racially abused on social media after Wednesday's home defeat by Sheffield United.

The Premier League will trial the use of concussion substitutes from Saturday, 6 February.

The new rule means up to two permanent substitutions can be made in the event of head injuries, even if all replacements have already been used.

Opposition teams will also be able to make an additional "normal" substitution at a time of their choice.

The first match of the trial is scheduled to be the 12:30 GMT kick-off between Aston Villa and Arsenal.

It will run until the end of the 2020-21 season but can be extended into the 2021-22 campaign.
