Bolton are being linked with Burton striker Charles Vernam and Blackpool midfield player MJ Williams, who could arrive on loan.
With regard to outgoings, Wanderers manager Ian Evatt said recently that decisions on goalkeeper Billy Crellin and midfield player Tom White are expected to be made by the end of the window.
Both players are currently on loan from Fleetwood and Blackburn respectively.
They are also on the verge of allowing Scunthorpe United to make George Taft’s current loan deal become a permanent signing.

Gillingham manager Steve Evans is in the market for “two or three” signings on deadline day, to strengthen the Medway club’s chances of a play-off push in League One.
Evans’ top priority is a striker, with an injury to Dominic Samuel leaving only Vadaine Oliver and John Akinde as centre-forward options. A versatile wide player is also on his wish list. The arrival of a central midfielder could perhaps lead to Matty Willock heading out on loan.
Gills have room to manoeuvre in the loan market with Tyreke Johnson’s move from Southampton turned into a permanent deal, along with Declan Drysdale and Josh Eccles returning to Coventry City, plus Trae Coyle and Zech Medley heading back to Arsenal. Midfielder Scott Robertson, who went back to Celtic, has since signed for Doncaster Rovers.

Fulham
It has been a barren January for Fulham: four goals, three points and zero signings thus far for Scott Parker’s side.
While it is true that Fulham have turned a corner defensively, the goals have dried up at Craven Cottage with both Parker and the fans calling out for a second striker to support Aleksandar Mitrovic.
However, the likelihood of Fulham bringing any new faces in is incredibly slim according to the manager, with outgoings needed before any incomings.
This morning there were very faint rumours of a move for Bournemouth’s Josh King and a loan for Bordeaux striker Josh Maja.
Midfielder Kevin McDonald is also rumoured to be given a coaching role at the club.
Anyway, we caught up with a Fulham fan earlier to get his views on their deadline day situation.
Sounds like he might get on the rum quicker than me.

Transfer deadline day latest...
Boris Johnson is on the move.
The Prime Minister is in Batley, West Yorkshire today and has just been to my mum's workplace.
She says she has just spotted him and he is on way the way to his next destination.
Unsure of where that is though.
Can't stop thinking about the question Sham's wife asked earlier (12:12 entry).
We need a signing.

Paul: Dads Army theme tune. Crystal Palace need some young stars.
Joe: Our Time Is Running Out by Muse sums up Derby Country's transfer window.
Dan Pilkington: It's oh so quiet by Björk for Man U. Although to be fair, that could be said for a number of clubs. Really underwhelming window, hardly surprising though given the circumstances.

Newcastle boss Steve Bruce was also asked about his side's confidence-boosting win over Everton on Saturday, and the role of new assistant Graeme Jones, whose arrival has coincided with what many regarded as Newcastle's best performance of the season.
Bruce said: "Graeme has worked a couple of days with us. We have seen improvements against Leeds and the second half against Aston Villa and over last two weeks there have been signs. With our big players on the pitch, we have been able to do that and yes Graeme will be a welcome addition and let's hope it continues.
"But I think after the night against Sheffield United I said that we're going to change. And I've waited a long, long time because I always felt that the squad were really comfortable in where they were before.
"So, yes, maybe it's taken too long but this is the way we're going to try and achieve it now."
Asked what he made of the positive coverage of Jones' input on Saturday, Bruce added: "It was an inspired choice."
A comment in that tweet: "Would be Taft not to."
Excellent.

As exciting as all this is as an LFC fan, can't help but wonder why it's taken us til deadline day to get these deals done? Doesn't seem in keeping with clubs usually excellent policy on transfers

Blackburn are set to sign Crewe left-back Harry Pickering, but he’ll be loaned back to Crewe for the rest of the season.
Pickering signed a new deal at the club last year, which contained a buyout clause of around £650,000.
His loan back to Crewe is a huge boost for David Artell’s side who are just 3 points off the League One play-offs. By 11 o’clock tonight, they are set to make around a million pounds in transfer fees this window, after Perry Ng joined Cardiff earlier this month, not bad for a League One club.

"Bournemouth have had a bid rejected for Matt Ritchie. That's a bit mean. Do you think players find out about moves while watching telly?"
Good question.

Even by modern standards of managers being coy to talk too much about potential transfers, Nuno is always particularly reluctant to drop hints, but any Wolves fans who held hopes four weeks ago of a list of gaps in the squad being filled by tonight probably abandoned that notion some time ago.
Patrick Cutrone, alas, looked no more like what Wolves were looking for on his return from an unfulfilling loan at Fiorentina than he did before it, and to no surprise he is away again, now to Valencia.
Willian Jose’s arrival last week at least addressed Wolves’ most obvious immediate requirement, but last summer they spent very heavily with a view to the longer term - most notably for Fabio Silva - and appear content to wait for those investments to mature. When their teams are struggling to find answers to their problems, supporters are not always so patient; but, said Nuno on Saturday, “the solutions are not outside”.

The further the transfer window progressed and Wolves' form slumped lower, the need for investment in the squad has been increasingly apparent.
Long-term injuries to Jonny and Raul Jimenez, as well as not replacing the likes have Diogo Jota, have left Wolves light in multiple areas.
The signing of Willian Jose looks promising to replace the goals we're sorely missing from Jimenez.
Wolves did bring back Morgan Gibbs-White from a loan spell at Swansea in the hope he could be another creative outlet, but has had little chance to make an impact. The club even brought back forgotten man Patrick Cutrone, despite a falling out with Nuno last year. However, following the arrival of Jose, he’s back out on loan, leaving Wolves with their new loan signing and 18-year-old Fabio Silva.
In a nutshell, Wolves needed to be more active this window if they wanted to push on and keep up with those teams around them who had taken it up another level.
I would love Wolves to bring in either a dynamic, all-action central midfielder or a solid centre-back who would enable Wolves to play with a back four. However, it’s more likely Wolves will sign a highly-rated academy player who’ll never get minutes in the senior team. I just genuinely hope I’m wrong.
Some Wolves chat? Okay then.
