  1. YELLOW CARDpublished at 18:42 Greenwich Mean Time 11 February 2021

    Wolves 0-1 Southampton

The tackles continue to fly in. Kyle Walker-Peters loses control and then flies in on Fabio Silva in pursuit of winning the ball back. He catches the Wolves striker and goes into the book.

It is a fortunate one as John Ruddy makes the save and it comes back onto him.

Its the right call, the defender is playing him on. A good run from Danny Ings, but he was fortunate that it came back to him and into the empty net. His movement was first class, but Ryan Bertrand has been their best player - everything comes through him.

    Danny Ings

It was a well-timed run. It was a neat finish. It was also an erroneous flag. Saints lead.

It will you know. He was onside when he set off to collect Bertrand's through ball. This is the opener, people.

  5. DISALLOWED GOALpublished at 18:39 Greenwich Mean Time 11 February 2021

    Wolves 0-0 Southampton

Danny Ings has the ball in the net after breaking past the Wolves defence but the flag is up. It won't count.

    Or will it?

    Massive, awful miss!

Ryan Bertrand does superbly to turn away from his marker and drive over a low cross from the byline that presents the onrushing Stuart Armstrong with three-quarters of the net to hit. Somehow, he side-foot wide from six yards.

    How? Seriously, how?

  7. KICK-OFFpublished at 18:35 Greenwich Mean Time 11 February 2021

    Wolves 0-0 Southampton

After last night's fireworks at Goodison, this has failed to ignite. But there's 45 minutes for one or both of these two to change that. We're back under way.

We've had a change too. Rayan Ait Nouri is on for Wolves, replacing Jonny. Guessing this is still part of the plan to easy the latter back to full fitness?

  8. Postpublished at 18:31 Greenwich Mean Time 11 February 2021

So you reckon Wolves are pulling the old rope a dope on Saints then, Mick? Let them tire themselves out at arm's length and then turn the tables with the big hitters?

If so, it's going to plan so far.

Clinton you forget that this is Southampton's best team and only half the Wolves first team. Wolves big guns are on the bench.

Fair to say Barnsley are fast becoming my favourite second club.

With temperatures set to dip to -4 during the game, the Tykes have opened up their hospitality boxes in the East Stand to seat news organisations covering the tie.

During Championship games media use the open press box in the main stand but with more interest in this tie, Barnsley have gone the extra mile.

In addition, each member of the media was handed a bag on arrival at Oakwell which contained Skittles, Twix, Fizzers, Haribo Starmix and Love Hearts.

Worth the journey alone just for those.

Just in case this game fails to ignite, don't worry. There's another one coming pretty sharply on its heels...

Southampton were brilliant in this first half, they had a spell near the end where they were not at the races and Wolves came into it. But if there was any team that was going to score, it was Southampton.

Ryan Bertrand has been superb down the left hand side, and Stuart Armstrong has been lively.

  13. The quarter-final drawpublished at 18:21 Greenwich Mean Time 11 February 2021

The draw for the FA Cup quarter finals will take place after this game.

We expect the draw at about 19:45 GMT but if we have extra time at Molineux it shall be later on.

    Here's those all-important numbers:

    1. Bournemouth
    2. Manchester United
    3. Sheffield United
    4. Wolverhampton Wanderers or Southampton
    5. Barnsley or Chelsea
    6. Everton
    7. Manchester City
    8. Leicester City

The ties will be played over the weekend of 20 March.

  14. HALF-TIMEpublished at 18:18 Greenwich Mean Time 11 February 2021

    Wolves 0-0 Southampton

Plenty of energy but precious little quality. Saints have been the better side, but neither have looked sharp up top.

  15. Postpublished at 18:17 Greenwich Mean Time 11 February 2021

Saints respond. They work it well down the left but Ryan Bertrand's low cross is poked wide by Danny Ings at the near post.

It's a great opportunity, he was stretching and should have left it for Kilman behind but a great ball from Joao Moutinho

  17. Postpublished at 18:15 Greenwich Mean Time 11 February 2021

    Wolves 0-0 Southampton

Wolves' turn to miss a good chance. Morgan Gibbs-White is fouled for a free-kick that Joao Moutinho whips beautifully into the corridor between Saints defence and keeper. Romain Saiss is on to it but volleys over unchallenged from 10 yards out.

He should do better. Its a great ball from Ryan Bertrand, he could have taken a touch and slid it past John Ruddy.

  19. Postpublished at 18:12 Greenwich Mean Time 11 February 2021

    Wolves 0-0 Southampton

Nathan Redmond looks to the sky. He knows he has just fluffed a big chance. A cross is whipped over from the left by Ryan Bertrand and somehow finds it way over and past the Wolves defence and to the Saints forward at the back post. He is surprised to find the ball at his feet, though, and can only loop his shot harmlessly into Ruddy's hands.

Vitinha is back on his feet quickly enough and is soon back into the action, almost providing a through-ball for Fabio Silva to latch on to. Thankfully for the Saints, Jan Bednarek is able to stick out a boot to intercept it.
