The Wolves players are in the wars. Vitinha goes down again after a high challenge from Ward-Prowse. Not sure how much of the winger's shin he caught but it's enough to have him rolling around and grimacing.

The game has petered out, where is the creative spark going to come from? Southampton started well, but Wolves are struggling to create in the final third.

We've not had an actual effort at goal of note for a good 20 minutes.

From where we are I thought that's no penalty - they should have asked me rather than going to VAR! That's the right decision.

It's a frantic game at times. Saints are looking to shift the ball quickly forward and it's leading to a few midfield scrambles.

Wolves 0-0 Southampton

The video tech deals with efficiently, siding with their on-field colleague. No penalty.

The Wolves players scream for a penalty as Morgan Gibbs-White sneaks the ball around a defender and the goes tumbling in the box as Mohammed Salisu stuicks out a foot. Jonathan Moss gives the appeals short shrift but VAR will check it.

The breaks in play have taken the wind out of this somewhat. Neither keeper has been properly troubled for a little bit.

James Ward-Prowse has to be one of the best free-kick takers in world football at the moment. He's having a great season, and if he carries on like this he must be in the mix for the England squad next summer.

Vitinha is the Wolves player down, following an accidental clash with a Saints man. He's getting a proper check from the medical staff, including a vision test. Thankfully, the winger looks to be fine. This club knows as well as any how careful you need to be with anything approaching a head injury.

Another break in play with another Wolves man down. Meanwhile, in the stands two Wolves subs are fighting over the heavy-duty blankets, I think one of them is Adama. Just let him have it.

Well that's a waste of a corner. Ward-Prowse swings over his delivery and it sails over everyone and out for a goal-kick.

Speaking of which, the Wolves subs are seriously wrapped up in the stands. I can't even tell which one of them it is, such is the amount of layers, fleeces, blankets and face coverings he has on.

You'd think he was about to climb Everest, not get 15 minutes at the end of this one.

Ladies and gentlemen, it is freezing but this game has started well so I am warming up! I've double-gloved!

Joao Moutinho is down and holding his head, forcing a break in play. It all comes from a challenge by Jan Bednarek, who is taking no prisoners.

He's soon back on his feet and able to carry on.

It takes a good near-post header from a Saints defender to prevent Wolves fashioning something from a left-wing cross from Morgan Gibbs-White. The home side just starting to edge back into it.

Wolves look to get into the game in an attacking sense but a drive down the left from Vitinha is ended by a wayward pass that Saints cut out easily.

More defending for Wolves to do. Danny Ings flicks the ball over one man in the box but is denied with a goalbound effort by the outstretched boot of Romain Saiss.

Nuno is pacing. His side are having to dig in here.

"Well done, John" shouts one of the Wolves coaches as Ruddy darts off his line to punch the ball clear with two hands. Southampton come again, though, and win another couple of corners. The second ends with Ruddy palming down a shot and then responding to prevent Danny Ings back-heeling the ball over the line.

Saints have started well.

That pressing brings the visitors the first corner of the match, prompting the big lads to head up from the back.
